GO-PRO POLE REDESIGN

Design Requirements-Non-invasive-Withstand impact / durable-No longer than 2.5 feet in length (30 inches)

Length adjustable -Weigh no more than 2 pounds -Must be able to pan and tilt with camera -Must be able to control the stability of the camera -Be made of only a few parts -Easily adjustable

Existing Problems: -With existing poles, you must use your hand to change the angle of the camera.-Unstable cameras greatly impact video quality.

Initial Concepts

Problems withfirst concepts :-Pulley system not strong enough-L bracket doesn’t perform task well enough

Final Designs

Up / down movements

Left / right movements

Changes Made for Final De-sign-Added sprockets/chain instead of pulleys-Redesigned bracket. Now is a U bracket with a center slot

Stabilizer De-sign:

-Uses a lower and upper bracket with 2 bearings for smooth movements of the camera-Weight added on bottom of lower bracket to help withstabilization

PRINGLES PACKAGING REDESIGN Problem: Chips are hard to reach and may end up broken in container

Jacob LevensteinAaron Mullen

User Feedback From Interviews“I like the imagery on the can”“The can should be made of a different material”“I can’t get my hand to the chips”“They remind me of when I was young”“Hard to open with one hand”“Sometimes the Pringles on the bottom are broken”

ChildrenWhy do they enjoy Pringles?-great tasting-different flavors-easy to carry-resealable container-advertising-fun to eat

Characteristics-small hands-do not look at price-easily persuaded

AdultsWhy do they enjoy Pringles?-transportable-resealable-takes up less room in cabinets-fits in cup holders-easier to create portions

Characteristics-larger hands-financially responsible-make household decisions

Extraction: •Bagasse is the main ingredient in the gelatinous casing. •Bagasse is the fibrous matter which is left over from sugarcane after they are crushed for the purpose of juice extraction. •Sugarcane, being the worlds largest crop by production is very abundant in areas of warm temperate to tropical regions of South Asia, also found in Mexico and Brazil. •Other ingredients needing extraction are: sugar from sugar cane, water, organic fruit purees, etc. •Fruit puree is from fruit is grown all around the world, and is harvested yearly. •Working as a sugar cane farmer comes with many risks including: water pollution, agrochemical use and pesticides, excessive water consumption, declining soil health and fertility.

Primary Processing: •Once the sugar cane is extracted it needs to be crushed down so the sugars and bagasse can be separated. •The sugar cane is pushed through rollers which crushes it and catches the liquids underneath •Stonyfield uses these pearls for frozen yogurt and currently have three different flavored shells available, peach, strawberry and coconut. • The bagasse are combined with sugars , fruit purees, water, milk, etc are all mixed to form the gelatinous skin. •This skin is a protective electrostatic gel formed by harnessing interactions between natural food particles, nutritive ions and a polysaccharide.

Secondary Processing: •Its now stonyfields job to make whatever they are planning on putting inside the gel. •If its frozen yogurt they make the yogurt and then portion it out into small balls. •Since the pearl is a gelatinous material, these balls can simply be wrapped in the gel casing. •When frozen these pearls can remain cold very long creating an ease of carrying.•Their main goal is to sell these pearls without any type of packaging but unfortunately stores aren’t yet equipped to sell them 100% package free. •To fix this problem the small box that these pearls come in is made of 100% sugarcane. •Each box contains 2 pearls.

Useful life and afterlife:•Since this new type of packaging is inspired by nature, similarly to fruits and vegetables these pearls can be cleaned, washed and stored anywhere.•Wikifoods states that these new pearls are: •Portable•Plastic-free•Environmentally friendly•Enables portion control•Opens up new usage occasions•Delivers functional nutrition•Creates unique flavor combinations•Fun – It's okay to play with your food•They have created something for other packaging and food companies to incorporate and help lead our world to become more sustainable. •There is no afterlife for the pearls because they are simply eaten and enjoyed. •The sugarcane packing that the pearls come in can be recycled and reprocessed for further packaging needs.•Wikifoods is continuing to create edible packaging for all different types of foods and hopefully soon these pearls will be sold without any form of packaging.
