We converted a parking spot for cars measuring 2.4 x 4.8 meters into a place to park folding bikes. Hoping to show the different uses for an area normally occupied by a single car, we were ultimately able to fit 40 folding bikes into the space. We used the first Car-Free Day of 2015 in Bogotá to bring together employees, professors and students at the Universidad de los Andes to beat the previous record of 25 bicycles.

climateIn order to mitigate and adapt to climate change, there must be efforts inboth the public and private spheres, as well as regional and national policiesand actions in the home. Despacio has participated in high-level talks on implementing climate change policies in developing countries. It has also been part of a consultancy to evaluate and make proposals to the Colombian Ministry of Transport regarding its MRV system for the country’s transport sector.

To understand better a stage of the life cycle we normally avoid (death), Despacio replicatedCandy Chang’s idea at its exhibition at the World Urban Forum in Medellin in 2014. We createdthe “Before I Die” wall to reflect things each of us wants to do with the rest of our lives. The 308messages on our wall dealt with issues of philanthropy, peace, travel, family and work, amongothers.

“Before I Die” Wall (Medellin, 2014)On December 4, 2014, the Despacio team, alongside its officemates (ROL Bogotá, Elementa andCityParking) installed a vertical garden in the public parking lot behind our office building.
