Espresso Bean According to our finding on Fashion Snoops’ color report, Solid Form, neutral colors in monochromatic form would be a perfect base for our color theme. From other trade publications such as Textile View Magazine and International Textile Report, key colors also include range of warm monochromatic brown, tranquil light blue, inky graphite, elephant grey and tinted soft pink. Therefore, we choose gray, blue, sand and nude as our key colors, and broaden our palette with different levels of color value. From the silhouette to colors, we wanted to bring life back the calmness. GeoZen is about combining the active lifestyle with peacefulness. ABOUT THIS PROJECT For the upcoming Spring 2017, we developed 3 new items for BDG menswear of Urban Outfitters. Spanning over the project of 4 weeks, we research fashion trend from forecasting agency, upscale-stores in the market and runway to come up our key item, fashion top and print/pattern top. Based on the research, we created a theme called “GeoZen” featuring minimalistic and balanced lifestyle with corre- sponding color palette and silhouettes. MY ROLE Here are some highlights I did in this 4 weeks project: - Research on WGSN, Fashion Snoops and Doneger to seek inspiration and upcoming trend in lifestyle, menswear, print and pattern. - Developing color palette and create the silhouette of apparels - Transforming design ideas and strategies into visual elements for presentation 2017 S/S GeoZen Print T-shirt Colorways GeoZen features a structural minimalism with a balanced vibrancy, so we used flat bed screen printing technique to create an engineered print of thin black lines and some color blocks to enhance such atmosphere. The geometric line print short sleeve T-shirt will come in 3 colorways. The base color for these 3 printed T-shirt are white, grey and black, which are the most popular colors of our customers’ choice, and the greyscale colors won’t interfere with the compiicated geometric design. The first colorway (7. Ocean + 8. Baltic Sea ) is printed on the white (5. Vanilla Scented) T-shirt to give a clean and bright design. The second colorway (2. Smoky Mountain + 3. Cobblestone) is printed on the brown-grey (9. Cement) T-shirt. The last colorway (2. Smoky Mountain + 3. Cobblestone) is printed on the black T-shirt (1. Midnight) with the Vanilla white line. 2017 S/S GeoZen Color Palette For our key item of Spring 2017, we modified the silhouette of the jersey knit t-shirt. The original slim cutting was modified into a boxy and loose fit. The sleeves are longer and wider, and the length of the t-shirt is also extended to cover the hip. The oversized silhou- ette creates a sporty, casual look. However, in order to keep the structure of the t-shirt, preventing it from becoming too baggy and crumpled, the main body of the t-shirt is sewn with 3 pieces so that the surface remains smooth and stiff. We decided to keep the crew neck design, as well as its width, to echo the sporty zen theme and make the overall silhou- ette not too loose. The main body of our T-shirt is sewn in three pieces with a bottom cover stitch to provide a flat finish inside while keeping the stretch- ability. The sleeve-openings are hemmed with bottom-cover stitch- ing. The banded-neckline is constructed with a 2x2 rib knit. The armholes and neckline are done in overlock stitching. The bottom is hemmed in bottom-cover stitching. The boxy T-shirt will come in these 10 different colors. The silhouette of our new fashion knit top also reflects the over- sized concept of Spring 2017. The dropped shoulder line along with extended sleeve length create a casual, comfortable but edgy style. To add some street sport elements into our new design, we put a black “URBAN OUTFITTERS” placement screen print onto the sleeves using a flat bed screen print. We want to highlight the key trend on our fashion item by using statement details such as zipper and text print. For trimming, we sewed a fake-pocket zipper on both sides of the main body with top-and-bottom cover stitching. We changed the fiber content to 54% cotton and 46% polyester in order to make it cheaper for our target customers. We also used a different seam method for our fashion item. The arm- holes and sleeve-openings are constructed in top-and-bottom cover stitching with raw edges to give more rustic feeling that reflects Urban Outfitters’ image. The front piece and back piece is sewn in overlock stitch. The bottom is done with overlock stitch without hemming. The neckline is sewn in a 2x1 rib knit. The extra long sleeve print top comes in these 6 different colors. For the new print knit top, we decided to keep the same silhou- ette as the current jersey knit T-shirt. We kept the crewneck but decided to go with a rounded neck. We also kept the slim fit design as well as the seam construction; the armholes are done in overlock stitching (Set-in), the neckline is hemmed with a flat seam, and the front piece and back piece are also sewn in over- lock stitching. The sleeves are sewn in bottom cover stitching, and the bottom is hemmed in bottom-cover stitching. However, we removed the pocket on the left chest to keep the minimalistic aesthetics. We also went from yarn dyed to piece dyed. Our theme GeoZen features a structural minimalism with a balanced vibrance, so we used the flat bed screen printing tech- nique to create an engineered print of thin black lines and some color blocks to enhance such an atmosphere. We used the linear print with ultra fine lines, but to make it more interesting we decided to put shadows between selected sec- tions between the shapes. For our fiber content, instead of using 100% cotton, we used 60% cotton and 40% polyester to keep the price down for our target customer. The geometric line print short sleeve T-shirt will come in these three colors. 2017 S/S GeoZen Line Sheet

2017 S/S GeoZenPrint T-shirt Colorways

GeoZen features a structural minimalism with a balanced vibrancy, so we used at bed screen printing technique to create an engineered print of thin black lines and some color blocks to enhance such atmosphere. The geometric line print short sleeve T-shirt will come in 3 colorways. The base color for these 3 printed T-shirt are white, grey and black, which are the most popular colors of our customers’ choice, and the greyscale colors won’t interfere with the compiicated geometric design. 2017 S/S GeoZen Color Palette

For our key item of Spring 2017, we modied the silhouette of the jersey knit t-shirt. The original slim cutting was modied into a boxy and loose t. The sleeves are longer and wider, and the length of the t-shirt is also extended to cover the hip. The oversized silhou-ette creates a sporty, casual look.

However, in order to keep the structure of the t-shirt, preventing it from becoming too baggy and crumpled, the main body of the t-shirt is sewn with 3 pieces so that the surface remains smooth and sti. We decided to keep the crew neck design, as well as its width, to echo the sporty zen theme and make the overall silhou-ette not too loose.

The main body of our T-shirt is sewn in three pieces with a bottom cover stitch to provide a at nish inside while keeping the stretch-ability. The sleeve-openings are hemmed with bottom-cover stitch-ing. The banded-neckline is constructed with a 2x2 rib knit. The armholes and neckline are done in overlock stitching. The bottom is hemmed in bottom-cover stitching.

The boxy T-shirt will come in these 10 dierent colors.

The silhouette of our new fashion knit top also reects the over-sized concept of Spring 2017. The dropped shoulder line along with extended sleeve length create a casual, comfortable but edgy style. To add some street sport elements into our new design, we put a black “URBAN OUTFITTERS” placement screen print onto the sleeves using a at bed screen print.

We want to highlight the key trend on our fashion item by using statement details such as zipper and text print. For trimming, we sewed a fake-pocket zipper on both sides of the main body with top-and-bottom cover stitching.

We changed the ber content to 54% cotton and 46% polyester in order to make it cheaper for our target customers. We also used a dierent seam method for our fashion item. The arm-holes and sleeve-openings are constructed in top-and-bottom cover stitching with raw edges to give more rustic feeling that reects Urban Outtters’ image. The front piece and back piece is sewn in overlock stitch. The bottom is done with overlock stitch without hemming. The neckline is sewn in a 2x1 rib knit.

The extra long sleeve print top comes in these 6 dierent colors.

For the new print knit top, we decided to keep the same silhou-ette as the current jersey knit T-shirt. We kept the crewneck but decided to go with a rounded neck. We also kept the slim t design as well as the seam construction; the armholes are done in overlock stitching (Set-in), the neckline is hemmed with a at seam, and the front piece and back piece are also sewn in over-lock stitching. The sleeves are sewn in bottom cover stitching, and the bottom is hemmed in bottom-cover stitching.

However, we removed the pocket on the left chest to keep the minimalistic aesthetics. We also went from yarn dyed to piece dyed. Our theme GeoZen features a structural minimalism with a balanced vibrance, so we used the at bed screen printing tech-nique to create an engineered print of thin black lines and some color blocks to enhance such an atmosphere.

We used the linear print with ultra ne lines, but to make it more interesting we decided to put shadows between selected sec-tions between the shapes. For our ber content, instead of using 100% cotton, we used 60% cotton and 40% polyester to keep the price down for our target customer.

The geometric line print short sleeve T-shirt will come in these three colors.
