E. CAREER

”Tidy Mess”*Surface design

2012

*Surface design + Pattern design + Furniture

*There was an interest in the way we develop our intimacy and how different patterns of

organization brought some aesthetic universes.

Having this in mind, the design process was guided to find ways

of putting together the visual universe applied to a surface

with my perception of tidiness.

The main goal was to make a contradiction between random

ornaments and structured surfaces to represent the idea of neatness and messiness in just

one piece.

”Tidy Mess”*Moodboards

Tidy Mess, was a project developed from an exploration with materials, marbling techniques and a surface application guided by a concept.

g*The human footprint as a latent sign of intimacy and

everyday lifestyle, is not strictly tidy, instead, it represents that alive part of each of us, as a mess that might be neat and correct for us but useless for

others.

*Marbling technique on pine wood with random patterns that makes implicit the contradiction

between the furnishing dispose idea and the chaotic and irregular pattern design.

”Infinitely mystical”*Art direction - product design

2012

*Interaction design + Art direction + Product design

Infinto, was a project that took the formal-aesthetic approach from a film in order to find new insights that allowed me to develop new products and experiences.

*The main goal was to develop an Art direction capable of producing experiences through spaces from a particular aesthetic thinking based in the research and concept analysis from the Luc Besson’s film “The

fifth element”.

*The main concept was Infinite as the result of the universe sensation that evokes

feelings of loneliness and coldness in addition to the minuscule and mystical sense that we represent in this endeless

cosmic space.

*This allowed me to create a space experience and a product solution guided by

the concept...

LUMBALÚ

*Editorial design - textile design

2013

*Editorial design + Textile design

Lumbalú, was a project that involved textile design with and editorial book design that communicated the value and story behind the collection.

“Lumbalú” explores the materials intervention, concepts development and textile design application with a costume design collection which translates an

aesthetic universe from a latinoamerican identity character. “San Basilio de Palenque” is a village located in the atlantic area in Colombia, with a strong colonial slavery history that has preserved

african traditions. San Basilio means emancipation, afro-colombian struggle and traditions.

There is where Maria Lucrecia was born, a “Palen-quera”, an afro-colombian woman who sells fruits

and other traditional sweets in Cartagena, who lives constant metamorphosis, finding herself and imagi-

ning her own “Lumbalú”, an african ceremony related to dead. With this story background the

collection was created and developed.

The Book editorial was the piece that expressed the storytelling, using graphic and photographic resources

that supported the essence of the collection.

GÉNEROSFLUCTUANTES

*Concept design - graduation project“fluctuating genders”

2013

*Editorial design + Textile design

Fluctuating genders, was my graduation project with a succesful academic result, the project express a critical point of view through concepts developed in different body pieces.

*Fluctuating Genders is a project that speaks about Queer theory, Gender studies and the fashion system, opening possibilities outside a male/female binary system revealing how gender is culturally and socially made.

The project was published in a book that explains the entire process of conceptualization, design thinking and the design approach to the pieces that resulted from the research. It was essencial the book design to communicate the different resources that were specifically designed to get information about gender studies locally.

*Career

2013-2014

*Editorial design + Communication design

Kingdom’s news, is publication from a private school in Bogotá, that communicates their activities and achievements to their community. They remark the work of their teacher and students.

The design process started from a new school identity created to refresh and establish a closer relation with their students where they were the main characters. As it is a bilingual school, the iconic british elements are the main graphic line through the entire publication.

*United Kingdom School

2014

*Editorial design + Communication design

The United Kingdom School, every year present an artistic event. In 2013, I devolped the communication design to promote their event, that included graphic pieces and the photography in it.

The concept behind the design was developed under the focus of the event

that was to show the colorful and rythm of the most important national

folk song and dances. Colombia is a one of the most biologically diverse

countries in the world, thats why the organic forms of nature were the main

graphic concept.

A special calligraphy font was created to contribute to the fluency and

spontaneity eye-catching name and identity of the event.

The reading of the graphic pieces was aimed at opening a natural scenario

full of colours and movements.

2014

*Editorial design + Communication design

Annual report about the access to education in Colombia. The issue was designed to express the concern about the education progress in Colombia.

This publication was designed to inform about the annual report on education access progress in the country.
