I am a hardworking, motivated and creative designer. I very much enjoy the whole of the design process — particularly visual research and the use of interesting materials within fashion and accessories. I also enjoy having a sense of humour within my work, even down to the smallest details.

Profile

This placement involved working closely with designers and technicians to produce the A/W 2009 Womenswear collection. I was involved in experimenting with fabrication samples, ongoing research for the design team, assisting with daily studio tasks, making up toiles and helping the technicians to complete final garments.

During this one year placement I worked with the Accessories team, assisting with the main and catwalk collections for A/W 2010, S/S 2011 and the beginning of A/W 2011. My duties included helping with the daily running of the studio, assisting with the design specifications that would be sent to factories (and then helping to make corrections for second and third prototypes), visual research, illustrative tasks (such as the London Fashion Week bag), work for prints, drawings of bags, design presentations and creating scale drawings using Adobe Illustrator. Towards the end of the placement I also shadowed design meetings and took visual notes in terms of any corrections to be made to the accessories.

During this placement I worked with the design team to produce the S/S 2010 catwalk collection. My duties included working with the pattern cutters (helping with cutting patterns and fabrics) and working with the design team on samples, toile’s and then final garments — which included a lot of intricate hand sewing and beading.
