The mayor of Berkeley, Tom Bates will entertain ideas and designs that might make up this interpretive cultural center. The site, now occupied by the Sea Breeze Café, right off highway 80, has enormous potential for public access and is a stone throw away from the actual shellmound historic site, protected from development. The goals for Cultural Center are basic; give the visitor a brief glance into the Ohlone world hundreds of years ago when the Ohlone Bay was thought of as one of the most beautiful lands and seas in North America.
