Digital Self

PortraitFrom 3D scans from a Xbox Kinect hacked. We used the scans and made a self portrait through the RHINOCEROUS Computer drafting program. My drawing was based on the lines I observed when you zoom in and out of the 3D scanned form. I noticed a pattern and I wanted to imitate them to make a drawing.

Wire Self Portrait

Taking a physical object scanning it to make a virtual object drawing on top of that to make a self portrait taking that self portrait and making it back into a physical form.My concept behind this was to imitate the shapes made in the computer drafting program by the screen itself when you zoom in and out and use those shapes to define my image which I had drawn based on these images. To complete the assignment and make a 3D form I thought that these lines looked like the lines used to describe mountain ranges on maps. I used that and thought that the same thing could be done but in reverse. Taking the lines and making a 3 Dimensional form from them instead of taking a 3D form and making it 2 dimensional. Much like what we had done with our own body scans.

Gestalt Metamorphosis

Laser cut paper sculpture based off of a combination of 3D scanned modelsI used perspective as a tool to develop my idea from this triangulated sculpture of an alligator mixed with my face and a fungus which I stretched to emphasis the perspective tool.Using the projector to show my idea of perspective by hoping the projector light would progressively warp and stretch on the side of the sculpture.
