Below are some samples of work i done for a typography project. The aim wasto ensure the typeface matched the genre of music i was trying to portray.

One of my most favourite programs to work with is Adobe Illustrator. It al-lows a certain amount of freedom and creativity to create anything youare willing to create. Some examples of what i have created previously onAdobe Illustrator are shown on these pages.

This includes graphic design work such as Logo Design , Poster design , CDROM Design , Postcard Design and various other creations done using thepen toll and the mutitude of tools.

Above are some samples of Logos i made for the ‘Crafts of India’ project i was working on. The ‘Crafts of India’ project wasone which required a various amount of promotional items made for a exibition on indian craft which would be held in theSECC. Some of the required items which had to made were Postcards and CD-ROM Screens. The above logos had to be putinto these items.

A requirement of these logos was that i had to take an indian relevant photograph which i had taken and convert it intoa vector format so it can be used as a logo.

The images below are an example of the CD-ROM screens that i was required to make for ‘Crafts of India’. The main screenwas required to be warm so i used the colours shown below to emphasise this and the subsidory screen was to yse coolercolours which is why the subsidary screen uses cool blues and greens.

The above are two very famous Glasgow buildings which i have recreated from hand on Adobe Ilustrator for a poster ad-vertising ‘Evolution Glasgow’.

All aspects of the building had to be taking into consideration to ensure the graphics i made represented the originalbuildings , including shape and colour.

Due to the many different pieces of these buildings , they are quite complex graphics requiring alot of time and detailput into them and use of tools such as the pathfinder and pen tool made the process alot easier when it came to the

coluring of the building.

WWoorrkk iinn PPhhoottoosshhooppAnother uselful program used for both creating items and editing items isAdobe Photoshop. When Adobe Illustrator is for creating vector graphics ,Adobe Photoshop is used for creating and editing bitmap images.

It allows you to do things such as give old/unusefull pictures back to life,make dull images brighter and more interesting and also creating docu-ments.

Some examples i have included in these pages are postcards , advertise-ments and other such things.

As stated previously , postcards were one of the promotional itemswhich had to be created for the ‘Crafts of India’ Project which idone. Here are some examples of these postcards. All the items onboth this page and the following , are products of some photo-graphs which i have taken or scanned , photoshopped and thenmade into postcards. All of the images required retouching on pho-toshop to ensure they looked good for the postcard. Tools whichdone this included levels , brightness and contrast and curves. Alsothe patching tool was used to correct any imperfections on theimages.All images were coloured appropriately to make them both eyecatching and exciting.

Although this portfolio was created inQuarkXPress , my morefavourable desktop publishing program to use is Adobe Indesign. Al-though i am fully able to use QuarkXpress as this portfolio sug-gests , i believe Adobe Indesign gives you more freedom over yourwork and in comparison is alot easier to use.

I have created many document in Adobe Indesign including abrochure about the digital switchover , Desktop Publishingbrochure and many other documents of which a small sample shallbe shown in this portfolio.

The photography work i done was to fit a certain criteria. I was requiredto take a fashion shot ( i decided on a Kokeshi keyring) , an architectureshot (buildings within Glasgow) , A Highland spring advertisement andalso a self-initiated idea ( i chose to do a willow tree ornament)
