Portalbuzz
Background IHQ was mandated by ICM in 2012 and
again in 2013 to investigate online registration system for worldwide membership
Several companies were approached in Europe and USA Found that they were very expensive (CHF
100,000+ to meet basic needs, ongoing annual costs)
ISG Nishi learned of Portalbuzz during SCLC in late 2013
Portalbuzz - Y’s Men International Portalbuzz is a cloud-based technology platform
designed specifically for service organisations.
It was created by Scott Smith, CTO of Kiwanis International (~600,000 student and adult members) as a way to simplify and enhance management, administration, and communication at all levels of the organisations.
Benefits to Y’s Men International Centralised organisation member data
so that whole organisation is looking at the same data
Member data updated at various levels of the organisation (Geneva office, regions, clubs, etc)
Integrated dues billing system
Benefits to Y’s Men International (cont.) Planned future features
Bulk emailing Convention registration
Integrated with club management system to which clubs can subscribe
Most importantly, be part of a bigger initiative with other service organisations
Club Management System
The Portalbuzz application is built upon a robust club management program designed to help clubs with communication, management, and administration. Some of the features include: Management of internal administration, such as members,
meetings, events, committees, newsletters and more Public website content management system for clubs that
ties into the data in their member area Platform to facilitate reporting between the clubs and the
parent organisation Message Hub communication function to facilitate
communication within the clubs and the organisation that is aware of the leadership hierarchy
Be part of the bigger initiative Service organisations tend to operate on
their own with minimal collaboration with other organisations.
Because of this, great ideas or best practices that may be implemented in one organisation will not make it to the other organisations.
Portalbuzz was created as a way to get service organisations collaborating through technology to solve complex problems they face.
