REGISTRATION INFO

How You Can Register:Online at pomoarts.ca. Click on the “Program Information & Registration’” button where you will find information about each class including detailed course outlines, material lists, pictures, and more.

In person @ 2425 St. Johns Street Over the telephone @ 604.931.2008All programs are located at Port Moody Arts Centre unless indicated otherwise

Prices include all applicable taxes and the registration fee.

Memberships pay for themselves! All prices include the $5.51 per person registration. This fee is waived for Arts Centre members. An annual membership is $20 for individuals and $35 for families plus applicable taxes.

Mistakes Happen! We make every effort to ensure accuracy but occasionally an error may occur. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The Port Moody Arts Centre reserves the right to correct, at any time, any pricing errors and to refuse to complete a sale that is the subject of a pricing error.

Refund PolicyOh, no – we had to cancel! Sometimes, we don’t get enough registrations for a class and have to cancel so it’s important to register early to avoid disappointment; we make the decision approximately one week in advance. If we cancel, we will do our best to find an alternative class or give you a 100% refund.

If you cancel: Sessional Classes:  Full refunds up to 4 calendar days before class starts. After that date, and including the first class, a 75% credit of the class fee only will be applied towards a future PMAC class. No refunds after the second class. There will be no refund given on registration fees, supply fees, or membership fees.Camp Programs:  Full refunds or transfers will be granted up to 5 calendar days before the first class.  Within 4 days, no refunds will be issued. No refunds granted for classes missed by students. Private Music Programs:  Please contact our front desk staff at 604.931.2008 for information.Workshops:  Full refunds up to 5 calendar days before the workshop starts. No refunds if cancelled within 4 days.

Pictures tell the story: We love to show our community the programs that we are offer and how much fun everyone is having. We use the photos we take to promote our programs and events. If you object to having your photo or your child’s photo taken, please let our photographers know. We are happy to comply.

We are a non-profit society led by a volunteer board of directors.

We offer music, ceramics, visual arts, media arts and fibre arts lessons.

We have a free gallery receptions throughout the year which highlight more than 100 local artisans per year (including the Christmas show).

There are more than 1,000 items of local artisan works in our galleries throughout the year.

2015 Wearable Art Awards has entries from more than five countries.

We have 34 instructors at the Arts Centre, many of them specialists in their chosen passion.

We listen to you! We received feedback from the community that there was a need for visual arts open studio and more ceramics open studio time and we’ve added it this year!

More than 150 volunteers donated a total of 1,500+ hours in 2014. Volunteers assist us with events, gallery shows, administration and community outreach throughout the year.

We participate in more than 20 local community activities per year.

In the summer, we will be using our outdoor studio space for even more programs.

Funds from Paint it Forward help us send kids to art camps.

We offer courses for the family throughout the year.

Students write, storyboard, animate and edit their own animated short film. Working with a partner, a story is developed and animated; visual effects, voice-overs and music are then added. On the final day, all productions are shown in a gala event for parents, friends and siblings. Each participant will use DV Cameras for animation capturing, After Effects for visual effects and composition, Adobe Premiere for editing, advanced visual storytelling and more! 3D Game Design Mindcraft Style! with Mike Schoenhals (10-14yrs) GDMSTue Feb 10-Jun 2 6:30-8:30pm 8 classes $215.51This course is designed to teach you the fundamental philosophies of game design and apply them in a hands-on manner using a step-by-step process that develops your ‘game design muscles.’ The tips, tools, and techniques taught in this course exist to provide the practical resources needed to create your own 3D Game and characters in the traditional Mindcraft style. A One Year Residency Opportunity for an Emerging or Established Ceramic Artist Starting in July 2015

The Port Moody Arts Centre Society supports artistic excellence and innovation. This residency is open to all emerging and established ceramic artists over 19 years of age. The residency will require an emphasis on making, learning and sharing the process of creating with clay.

The residency is an excellent opportunity for artistic development within an innovative and supportive ceramic community. The clay studios at the Arts Centre are busy, supportive and house a true sense of community. There are classes for adults in hand building and wheel throwing, children’s classes that range from after school clay to spring & summer camps, plus a very active Open Studio group of ceramic devotees.

Violin with Pavel ChiriacPavel has enjoyed more than 30 years as a distinguished international musician and teacher. He holds a Masters of Music and has won the gold medal at the international “Foyer Des Artistes”. Learn to play violin or advance your current skills. All levels are welcome!Classical and Suzuki methods are available as well as a large variety of styles from folk, fiddle to pop. Participants bring their own violin to class.

Voice with Leanne KochLeanne holds a BMus and MMus from UBC in voice and opera performance. Having taught for more than 10 years, she is a member of the BCRMTA and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has further training in teaching and singing Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) from Shenandoah University where she completed Somatic Voicework – the Lo Vetri Method™ Levels I-III, and courses for Voice and Movement, Gospel Singing, and Working with Injured Voices.

Piano and Theory with Sathia AruliahSathia studied piano, organ and harpsichord at the Trinity College of Music, London. She holds their highest diploma, a Fellowship in Harpsichord Performance and studied at UBC to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Music.
