POPPIE Launch Feedback

We would also like to THANK EVERYONE who attended the POPPIE launch seminar in June. It has been inspiring to see partnership in action with a common goal: improve the care of women, babies and families in Lewisham.

ISSUE 2 31 JULY 2017

"I was delighted to present and show the CCG’s support for the exciting partnership work. I was moved to hear a woman's experience of a preterm birth and how POPPIE research into continuity of carer is expected to make a real difference to local high risk women of pre-term birth and impact on them as well as outcomes for their babies. I look forward to hearing about progress on the research as its applied locally and seeing further evidence being added to support decisions locally and across the whole NHS"

Martin Wilkinson, Chief Officer of Lewisham CCG

"Amazing things begin with a conversation! It was over 2 years ago when I first approached Professor Jane Sandall about whether there were any collaborative opportunities to look at how we might find ways of reducing pre-term birth in Lewisham. 2+ years later-the launch, such an exciting day-big thanks to everyone that has made this happen and in particular to Sadbh LeDonne, mother of a pre-term baby who spoke at the launch and crystalised what it means for babies and their families when they are born very early"

Pauline Cross, Consultant Midwife Public Health, London Borough Lewisham

"I'm really happy to be able to contribute in some very small way to such an important project. I didn't fully appreciate

what POPPIE was until I came along last week. I'm most pleasantly surprised. Such a positive move forward and

tackling a very big and expensive problem of premature births in a very sensible and forward thinking way. I feel privileged

to have been at the launch. Thank you all".

Sadbh LeDonne, MVP Group

"The POPPIE launch was a fantastic achievement for L&G NHS Trust. It has taken a lot of work between a variety of partners to get where we are and I am very proud of the team, their dedication and their passion. We all know that continuity of care is important for women and midwives. I am very much looking forward to learning women’s and midwives experiences, alongside the clinical outcomes, of this research project"

Giuseppe Labriola, Head of Midwifery, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

"We are thrilled to be working with such a brilliant team locally and across London who have so generously shared their research knowledge and skills in the development and set up of this study. LGT have had little opportunity to take part in Midwifery research previously , this is such an important study for babies, women and midwives".

Jackie Moulla, PI and Consultant Midwife, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

"It has been great!."

Helen Knower, Director of Midwifery, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
