O PopUp Lisboa 2009 consistenuma iniciativa de arte urbana anvel nacional. Parte de Hugo Israela ideia de aproveitar espaosurbanos devolutos ou inutilizadospara serem ocupados pelas obrasde artistas emergentes. Sem finslucrativos, pretende apenasinterferir na autoconscincia do

cidado urbano dentro de umesprito existencialista: o indivduoe a sociedade, a forma como esteo assimila e exterioriza. Asfronteiras Eu/Corpo, Eu/Outro,Eu/Sociedade, Eu/Universo estopatentes nas obras de mais deuma dezena de artistas nacionais.

A inaugurao da exposiocolectiva vai ser no dia 5 de Junhona antiga Cavalaria do palcio daTrindade, no n18 da Rua daTrindade ao Largo do Carmo. nodia da inaugurao que vo actuar

os Macacos do Chins, BarbaraLagido, e o Dj Rui Pregal da Cunha.Tambm neste dia alunos daEscola Superior de Dana vopreencher a Rua da Trindade aoCarmo. At terminar, no dia 9 deJulho so diversos os Workshops

a ter lugar na antiga cavalaria:Terapia pela Arte, Feng Shui,Reciclagem Urbana e Fotografia.

A ocupao de espaos devolutosou inutilizados com arte ser apedra toque do projecto nasdiferentes cidades que visitar. O

exemplo da Baixa lisboeta, acavalaria, j serviu de escritriode arquitectura e at comoprodutora de cinema. Paraarrendar, ali est um espaorepleto de luz natural dado aoabandono e ao vazio. Assim comodentro do indivduo h um vaziovido de ser preenchido...

A fachada do edifcio e o seuinterior vo ser submetidos a umatransformao plstica. Ainterveno de artistas comoHugo Israel, Gonalo Mar, Tiago

Fora da antiga cavalaria, estincluda na programao do PopUpLisboa 2009, um ciclo de conversasde arte sobre temas de indiscutvelactualidade no meio artstico. O

Na Fundao Portuguesa dasComunicaes estara, ainda,patente a exposio De dentrode Jos Mendes de Almeida.14 fotografias em formato90X130cm que mostram espaosdevolutos, lugares desocupados.Um olhar exterior para dentro deedifcios que perderam identidade

e funcionalidade.

From Lisbon to the remainder ofthe country and beyond borders,urban art will have a name:PopUp Lisboa 2009.

PopUp Lisboa 2009 is a nation-wideurban art iniciative. The ideia oftaking urban spaces which arevacant or unutilized and using themto present works of up-and-comingartists comes from Hugo Israel.With no lucrative intent, its aim isto interfere with the urban citizens'self-conscience, within an

existencialist spirit:: the individualhimself and society, the way in whichhe assimilates and externalizes it..The borders I/body, I/the other,I/society, I/universe are present inthe works of more than a dozennational artists.

The collective exhibition's openingwill take place on June 5th, in theold stables of Palcio da Trindade,Rua da Trindade, n 18, in the vicinityof Largo do Carmo. The openingwill include live acts from Macacos

do Chins, Brbara Lagido and DjRui Pregal da Cunha. Dancestudents from Escola Superior deDana will take Rua da Trindade bystorm. Until its closing, on July 9th,several workshops will take place inthe old stables: Therapy through

Art, Feng Shui, Urban Recycling andPhotography.

The filling of vacant and lifelessspaces with art will be thetouchstone of the project in thedifferent cities that it will visit.Taking the example in downtown

Lisbon, the stable has alreadyserved as an architecture atelierand even as a film productioncompany. Available to rent, here isa space full of natural sunlight letto abandon and emptiness. Justlike inside each individual there is anemptiness avid to be filled...

The building's faade and itsinteriors will undertake anaestethetic transformation. Theintervention of artists such as HugoIsrael, Gonalo Mar, Tiago Marques,Andr Uerba, Bruno Canas, Nuno

Neto, Miguel Janurio, RaquelNicoletti, Ins Madeira Coito, RicardoValentim, among others, will be indifferent mediums: multimedia,sculpture, photgraphy,performance... All of themcontribute into making PopUp Lisboa2009 a must-see cultural event.

Outside the old stables, PopUpLisboa 2009's programming includesa cycle of art conversations onsubjects of unarguable timelinesswithin the artistic world. The cycle

is a creation of Ncontrast magazinedirector, Catarina da Ponte. Thefirst panel will be "Creatives,Creation, Agents"; followed by"Publications in Urban Language","Urban Art's Uncommon Place" and

"Projects: Creative Pairs". It shallall take place in the FundaoPortuguesa das Comunicaes(Portuguese Foundation forCommunication), where relevantplayers in the subjects in questionwill be present , namely: EmaCerveira -Who Agency; Pedro Palro

- Ncontrast Magazine, Slvia Cmara- Lisbon's City Council departmentof cultural patrimony, and Ram -Urban Artist.

Also in the Fundao Portuguesadas Comunicaes will be theexhibition De dentro, by JosMendes de Almeida. 14 photographsin 90X130 cm formats that showvacant spaces, idle places. Anoutsider's look into buildings thathave lost their identity andfunctionality.
