WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE POOL?

Since the pool first opened in October 2004, there have been over 185,000 recorded attendances. Despite unusual weather patterns and the early closure of the pool for a much needed upgrade, attendance at the Aquatic Centre for the 2015-16 summer season was still very high, proving to be the go-to place for our community to cool off and socialise.

Recent tiling work at the pool has given the centre a fresh new look and is a wonderful place to enjoy summer - whether it be for a swim, a party, family gathering or a casual function.

The Gingin Aquatic Centre is part of the Gingin Recreation Centre, located behind the main building next to the Bendigo Complex.

Private Swimming LessonsLouise Schmidt from Seastarz Swim School will be offering private swimming lessons for children of all ages on Sundays at the pool. VacSwimVacSwim swimming lessons for your children are available in the school holidays. There are two series for children who are 5 years or over on the first day of classes.

1st Series: Tuesday 3 January 2017(9 days) to Friday 13 January 2017 9am to 12.30pm

2nd Series: Monday 16 January 2017(8 days) to Wednesday 25 January 2017 9am to 12.30pm

Pool Upgrade 2016The pool has a stunning new look! The Shire is pleased to announce that the Tiling Project at the Gingin Aquatic Centre is complete. The Department of Sport and Recreation’s Community Sporting Recreation Facilities Fund contributed to one third of the project costs. This work has also included the installation of solar heating which will make the water temperature more comfortable, providing a more pleasant experience for pool patrons, and allows us to extend our pool season a bit longer as well. The solar heating was funded by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s Stronger Communities Program.

The Gingin Aquatic Centre is an accredited Waterwise facility. Please assist us by being mindful of water use in the showers.

Please note: Any child wearing a nappy is required to wear a waterproof ‘aqua-nappy’ whenever in the pool. Aqua-nappies are available for purchase at the kiosk.

Early Morning SwimAre you an early riser? Do you prefer to exercise first thing in the morning? If so, the pool is open from 6.00am – 7.30am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for your convenience.

Gingin Super SealsTraining days for the Gingin Aquatic Club Inc Swim Squad (aka the Gingin Super Seals) are Monday and Wednesday from 3.45pm. For more information contact pool manager Cameron Wrathall on either 9575 5154 or 0435 051 041.

Virtual Rottnest SwimThis year’s Virtual Rottnest Swim will be held on Saturday 25 February 2017. Get a team together to swim the 19.7km to “Rotto”… no sharks - no seaweed - no waves!

TriathlonThe Aquatic Centre will again host the swimming leg of the Gingin Triathlon. This is a family-friendly event suitable for people of all fitness levels. So get a team together or compete solo and mark 12 March 2017 on your calendar for another fantastic community event.

Aqua AerobicsAqua aerobics will be held again, weather permitting, in December 2016 on a day and time to be confirmed. These fun one-hour classes are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, and cost $10 per session plus entry fee. If you would like more information contact Roxanne Fewster on 0419 192 511.
