Course Objective

Provides a theoretical knowledge of the role, functions, and environment of the manager.

Learn about the development of management principles and their integration into modern management theory.

Application of management principles to realistic situations managers face.

Upon completing the course students should KNOW:

Management concepts, history, development, functions and major schools of management thought.Types of decisions made in business, and be familiar with the steps in the decision-making processKey motivation and leadership theories in the field of management.Key issues relevant to successful management of the workforce across cultures.

Skill Content

After completing the course, student to be able to:

Apply appropriate managerial functions, skills, and approaches in real life situations.Work as an effective team member and leader.Approach change with enthusiasm. Identify and integrate methods of organizational structure and design for the optimum utilization of organizational resources. Use control tools in different functional areas of management.

Attitude Content

The course aims at developing skills and knowledge needed to successfully manage an organization.

It aims to generate your interest towards the field of management and motivate you to become effective managers.

Internal ExaminationsThere will be 2 mid term examinations and 1 model examination.

The exam would be focusing on both the application skill well as the conceptual clarity.

No make-up examinations or assignments will be conducted except under critical circumstances.

Group Projects, Assignments & SeminarThere will be a number of individual assignments.

You will also work in groups to undertake a major integrative project applying the managerial principles in to real life situations

Questions and guidelines will be presented for each Assignment separately.
