Polyurea Spray Equipment; make the right choice, do good maintenance to have a long life time / by HI-TECH SPRAY EQUIPMENT
• The less problematic part of 2k hot spray equipment – the machine – will be considered.
• Most problems in this technology are related with the nasty nature of ISOcyanate, that is to say its ability to react with moisture which is contained in the ambient air or flushing liquids.
• Most part of daily or periodic maintenance procedures are related with minimizing of this effect of ISO to the parts of equipment wetted by ISO.
• On the slides below the most typical failures related with lacking or negligent care about spray equipment will be mentioned.

?
Consequence if this stage is systematically ignored on ISO side:
3
Case 1. The machine is not properly stopped/parked after the working day is over.
4
Case 2. Maintenance of ISO high pressure pump DOTP flushing system is ignored.
Consequence if this stage is systematically ignored on ISO side:
5
Case 3. Other ISO-related issues / failure to maintain circuits under pressure during recirculation and after the job is done.
Consequence if this stage is systematically ignored on both ISO and POL sides:
• heated hose service life reduced due to prolonged exposure to negative pressures
• negative effects on long-term conservation of heated hoses onISO side due to moisture diffusion and following gel formation
• high pressure pumps´ seals leaking due to low pressure / elevated temperature (>50C) recirculation
• high pressure pumps´ seals service life reduced due to consequences of maintaining at low pressures
• no proper flushing of ISO circuit with a plasticizer on long term
6
Case 4. Non-ISO related failures.• heated hose service life reduced due to prolonged exposure to
negative pressures
• normal wear of dynamic parts (both in machine and transfer pumps)
• periodic hydraulic oil check/change, if applicable
• correct heated hoses storing/handling
• inlet gun/filters control
7
CONCLUSION. Good examples of equipment handling.• hoses properly
handled and kept in the roll
DOTP
• preventive procedures from ISO crystallization observed
• proper machine flushing and gun cleaning provided
