Market News ( World wide ): Large-sized columns for a polypropylene-production complex delivered to Russia Tue, 3 August 2010

Two slag-purging columns, brought to Russia for the construction of a complex in Tobolsk for the production of polypropylene, have completed customs clearance. The total length of each column is 38m, the diameter 4.6m, and weight 60 tons. The equipment was made in Korea and sent by sea across the Indian Ocean and the Suez Canal to Antwerp (Belgium), where it was loaded and delivered to St. Petersburg. In future, the columns will be sailed on a special barge along the Northern Sea Route to enter the Irtysh. In total, the construction work in Tobolsk is expected to receive 23 pieces of large-sized heavy equipment. In addition, 2010 alone is expected to see the arrival of more than 650 containers, 100 rail cars and 470 trailers of general goods for the site. The most massive piece of the oversized equipment is a column for propane dehydrogenation, which is being sent from Korea through the Panama Canal to Arkhangelsk, followed by loading onto a river barge for passage to the Irtysh. Its diameter is 10 meters, length about 100 meters, and weight 1096 tons. In order to receive such goods in Tobolsk, work has been carried out on the dredging and expansion of the technical capabilities of the river port on the Irtysh River. With its complexity and its utilization of technological and human resources, the delivery of this equipment is unique for the global and Russian petrochemical industry. The capacity of the new facility for the production of polypropylene will be 500,000 tons per year, which will make it one of the largest in the world.

Next expected Polymer Report & Price Revision Prediction:

Tomorrow’s Global Polymer Report (4/8/2010),will come UP by atleast $ 40-$ 50 in HD,HM & PP.

LL & LD will be up by $ 30- $ 40 & PVC should be UP by $ 10-$20 .As per our study Indian Dom.Mfgrs

Will increase rate WEF 5/8/10.Approx. rate revision may be as under.

PP:should increase by Re.1 –Rs.2 /kg

HD / HM & LD :Should increase by Re.1/kg

LL ;Should increase by Re.1-Rs.2 /kg

PVC:should remain unchanged.

Purchase opinion:

Apart from market expectations, Indian Domestic Polymer Mfgr companies has revised rates in HDPE only,

earlier it was expected by market that revision will be there in PP & PE both, however it was applicable in

HDs only.

As mentioned in last purchase opinion, Global Polymer market has been reversed towards uptrend. China

has started buying polymer in quantity. Indian Domestic mfgr has revised price upward in HDPE & HM-

HDPE by Re.1 only ,WEF 1/8/2010,while PP & PVC rates are unchanged

As per available news, PP Film (Tq) is available till next 2days,lateron production cycle of Same will come

after 5-6 working days. So again TQ is most advisable material for stock. HD blow moulding is also running

under major short supply, if available it is also advaisable for stock.

As of now all HDPE & HM-HDPE to the lowest range, we are of the opinion that traders &

manufacturer can start purchasing same either for immediate sale or for the purpose of inventory. Some

grades of HDPE in Blow, Injection & Film are under short supply.

LDPE is also under short supply since long. In these grades, purchaser need not require to wait to avail

material at company price list rate. Details of last rate revision are available on very 1st page of this sheet.

Over all Purchase is advisable in PP/HDPE/HM-HDPE/LLDPE & LDPE.

As per us, a phase for waiting to purchase of PE is over especially in HD & HM grades, one can start buying to

build healthy inventory. Globally price of HDPE & HM is almost stabilised & moving towards UPTREND,

which you can see in last Global Report (28/7/2010), there is no further chance for next down ward revision.
