The epidemic lasted from 1910-1952. 1952 was the hight of the epidemic; 60,000 new cases
emerged and 3,000 deaths were the cause of the epidemic.

5%-10% have a rare case of polio called Bulber polio which is when the virus
attacks the brainstem. The result is not being able to breath. one Solution is to
have an iron lung to help keep a consistent breathing pattern.
