Photo by Laura MacLean Huntsville RIDE lane nabs impaired driver A Burk’s Falls man was charged with impaired driving and other offences after being stopped in a RIDE program on Nov. 28. At about 3 p.m., officers from the Huntsville OPP detachment had been conducting a RIDE lane for about five minutes when a driver who had been drinking approached. Forty-one-year-old Shannon Dale Worth was arrested and charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. Worth also faced two highway traffic act offences. He is scheduled to appear in Huntsville court on Dec. 24 to answer to his charges. Officers from Huntsville OPP conducted several RIDE programs over the weekend and will continue through the festive season. Thieves steal vehicle awaiting repairs On Dec. 1 at about 2:45 a.m., officers from the Huntsville OPP detachment were notified of a parked motor vehicle interfering with snow removal on Hwy. 11. An investigation revealed that a vehicle had been stolen. The owner of the vehicle, John Pantaleo of Huntsville, told police that he left his vehicle parked at Shirtliff Garage on Main Street West for repairs. Police are asking for the public’s assistance to help solve this theft. Anyone who may have seen some suspicious activity at the garage is asked to contact the Huntsville OPP at 789-5551 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Residence broken into The Huntsville OPP is seeking the public’s assistance in helping solve a break, enter and theft that occurred on Lake Drive in Huntsville. Sometime overnight on Nov. 30, unknown culprits broke into the residence, and once inside, the culprits removed several items including a laptop computer, a Playstation 2, an Xbox, games for both of the systems, cameras, jewellery and other items. Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact the Huntsville OPP or Crime Stoppers. ATV and pickup truck go missing overnight As of Monday, police were investigating the theft of an ATV from a Port Sydney business and a stolen pickup truck in Huntsville. Sometime overnight on Nov. 30, unknown culprits cut the chain to the gate that leads to the compound at Arnies Cat House in Port Sydney. Once inside, the culprits removed a 2008 Artic Cat ATV along with a yellow plough and winch. Also taken from the yard was a set of ramps for the ATV. During the evening hours and early morning hours on Nov. 30, unknown culprits entered the BDL Mechanical property on Big Country Drive and removed a 1991 white GMC Sierra pickup truck with the Ontario licence plate number 495 3NJ. Attached to the front of the truck was a Meyer snowplough. Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to contact the Huntsville OPP or Crime Stoppers. Contraband smuggled in plastic football For the second time this month, staff at Fenbrook Institution stopped the entry of contraband into the medium- security facility. According to a press release, a correctional officer performing a routine fence walk on Monday, Nov. 24 discovered a plastic football between the security fences that surround Fenbrook Institution. Further investigation of the interior of the football resulted in a contraband find of tobacco, pills and marijuana. The estimated value of this contraband within the institution is $10,000. No inmates have been identified as being involved at this time and an investigation is ongoing. Less than two weeks ago, a drug detector dog sniffed out tobacco hidden in a new pair of running shoes at the admissions and discharge area of the prison. Two packages of tobacco were seized before the contraband could enter the facility. The estimated value of the recovered tobacco inside the prison is $3,000. Huntsville RIDE lane nabs impaired driver

A Burk’s Falls man was charged with impaired driving and other offences after being stopped in a RIDE program on Nov. 28.

At about 3 p.m., officers from the Huntsville OPP detachment had been conducting a RIDE lane for about five minutes when a driver who had been drinking approached.

Forty-one-year-old Shannon Dale Worth was arrested and charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. Worth also faced two highway traffic act offences.

He is scheduled to appear in Huntsville court on Dec. 24 to answer to his charges.

Officers from Huntsville OPP conducted several RIDE programs over the weekend and will continue through the festive season.

Thieves steal vehicleawaiting repairs

On Dec. 1 at about 2:45 a.m., officers from the Huntsville OPP detachment were notified of a parked motor vehicle interfering with snow removal on Hwy. 11.

An investigation revealed that a vehicle had been stolen. The owner of the vehicle, John Pantaleo of Huntsville, told police that he left his vehicle parked at Shirtliff Garage on Main Street West for repairs.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance to help solve this theft. Anyone who may have seen some suspicious activity at the garage is asked to contact the Huntsville OPP at 789-5551 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
