Contraband smuggledin plastic football
For the second time this month, staff at Fenbrook Institution stopped the entry of contraband into the medium-security facility.
According to a press release, a correctional officer performing a routine fence walk on Monday, Nov. 24 discovered a plastic football between the security fences that surround Fenbrook Institution.
Further investigation of the interior of the football resulted in a contraband find of tobacco, pills and marijuana. The estimated value of this contraband within the institution is $10,000.
No inmates have been identified as being involved at this time and an investigation is ongoing.
Less than two weeks ago, a drug detector dog sniffed out tobacco hidden in a new pair of running shoes at the admissions and discharge area of the prison.
Two packages of tobacco were seized before the contraband could enter the facility. The estimated value of the recovered tobacco inside the prison is $3,000.
