WHAT IS POINT OF VIEW?
When you are asked to describe the point of view
of a story, you are being asked to identify who is
telling the story.
There are 2 main points of view we will be
working with this year.
They are 1st person point of view and 3rd person
point of view.

1S T PERSON POINT OF VIEW
When the story is being told in the 1st person
point of view, the main character is the one
telling the story.
Some clues that the story is in 1st person
point of view:• The character uses the pronoun I a lot • The character lets you into his or her
thoughts

3R D PERSON POINT OF VIEW
When a story is written in 3rd person point of
view the narrator knows what all of the
characters are thinking.
Clues that a story is being written:• The characters are referred to by their

everything that is going on.
