Why is Social Media so important then?

It is important because for a band like Nero to tweet, it costs nothing; and when they tweet, as seen in the previous slide, more than 400,000 people will see there tweet instantly. So social media is a marketing heaven for musicians, band members and corporations, because it is free, instant advertisement.

Websites

Websites for musicians and bands can be important because it is a virtual ‘home’ of what happens to/with the band and what they are doing.

On a website a band or musician can also sell related merchandise and ‘exclusive’ albums.

Also, a website can be made with little money needed and if there is enough ‘traffic’ going onto and through the website this could lead to more money income for the band/musician.

Well planned and laid out websites are best

All examples of very good, easy-to-use, websites are generally fairly simple:

Digipak - ”A type of packaging for CD’s or DVD’s, typically

made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs.”

The digipak for any band or musician is the most important tool for presenting your new album to the public without them having to hear it. ~ It goes against the saying “Never judge a book by

its cover”

TV adverts

Having promotional adverts on TV can be very costly; however the benefits of TV advertising are substantial.

A musician or band can have clips of their music video in the ad to show the viewer a visual and moving example of there music.

As well as showing the viewer the video and digipack TV ads allow the band or musician to play preview length sound clips to the viewer too. Allowing them to hear and see the best bits of a new album.
