Wow! The first board meeting was full of ideas and
plans. As your new president, I am excited about the
coming year. Some very special projects and events are
in the works. The programs are all set, and the paint-ins
and seminars are in the planning stage. The seminar
scheduled at the end of January is filling up. If you
haven’t signed up for at least one of the days, please
contact Peggy right away.
Willeen Summerford is working on the Christmas
drawing for next year and will be asking members to
help with the project. Patterns and color schemes are in
the works and should be available soon. She will tell us
more at the next meeting. The table decorations for the
National Convention are also underway. I hope many
of you will volunteer to paint placemats and napkin
rings for the
table.
Jeanne Landquist needs your help with refreshments.
The Ojai group is doing January, but we need to fill up
the rest of the year.
Our Ways and Means gals have some neat things
planned for the January meeting. Invite a friend, even
a non-painter. Who knows, we might get them inter-
ested in a whole new hobby. See you there.

Tommie Cochrane & Char Plante have recently taken the position of
Ways & Means.
Tommie & Char have decided to have a
“WHITE ELEPHANT”
sale at the January 10th meeting. A bit of time
was spent going through all of the things we
have collected over the years, and some of those
items will be for sale.
When you bring a Show
& Tell item or items,
you get a raffle ticket, It
can only be something
that is recently painted
(no old items), only one
ticket per person., no ma-
ter how many items you
bring in. Finish up an old
project & show it off!
Marilyn’s fund raising project for 2011
will be a hand painted quilt of poinset-
tias. Willene Summerford is the
quilter in charge. Marilyn, Willene &
Cathy Villa have a dream…..and we
are all going to paint it. So bring in
any poinsettia patterns, they might be
considered for this fabulous project.
The painting has to be done by June 13
meeting. That will give Willene time
to put the quilt together & get it to
someone to do the actual quilting proc-
ess. Willene will be explaining this to
all of us at the January 10 meeting. If
you have any questions, she can
answer them at that time.
AND SPEAKING OF POINSETTIAS…..
We are going to painted table decorations for the Soci-
ety of Decorative Painters Convention. This year the
convention is May 16-21, 2011 in Wichita, Kansas.
Marilyn will have all the info at the January 10 meeting.
We are going to try to start a Book
Club. Bring a book, take a book to
read & return. Preferably paper-
backs, but doesn’t have to be. These
are novels, not Tole Painting books.
Bring your book to Carla & she will
be the contact person.
Tommie Cochrane’s dog, named Riley, is getting
ready for the holidays, on Tommie’s new porch.
Riley was approved in the mobile home park before
Tommie was! He must be a charmer!!!! Riley was
rescued from Tommie’s granddaughter, Katie, when
they all moved recently. Riley is 1/2 Healer & Aus-
trian Sheppard & has became Tommie’s constant
companion.
