Overview

In today’s seminar we are going to have a debate about the verytopical subject of whether new business models should maintainAdam Smith’s Invisible Hand mentality or whether they shouldadopt a more strategic CSR focus.

In the debate we will have to opposing sides one fighting from the‘Invisible Hand’ approach and the other a ‘Strategic CSR’ approach.

Each will have an adequate opportunity to present their argumentsand also be given the opportunity to present a rebuttal to theopponents arguments. Thereafter, it will be open to the floor to askquestions to each side and finally closing comments will be heard.

The last stage is where a vote will be cask by the floor to declarethe winner. Let the debate begin!

• Develop and articulate sound and robust arguments relating to key economic and business theory

• Be able to coherently highlight the key arguments for the theories presented

• Counter-argue the key points of one theory by providing evidence of its flaws

• Constructively work together in teams to strategically out maneuver the opposing teams
