From the Presidents....
Dear Shelters Family,
This Reporter issue is long overdue, but we will try to update you about everything ‘Shelters’ since October of last year.
First and foremost, we had our annual luncheon on November 3rd and as always it was wonderful to come together in support of our projects in Israel. The two projects that we chose, the Latet Aid for Life Holocaust Survivors Assistance Project in Northern Israel, and the Patient Treatment Isolation Room in the Pediatric Dialysis Unit of Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem are very worthy indeed.
We are pleased to say that funding for the Pediatric Dialysis Isolation Room in memory of Teddy Jackson z”l has already been completed, thanks to our members’ incredible generosity and an important bequest.
The project to assist Holocaust survivors in Israel has received such support from all of you that we have been able to commit more funding than we originally planned, and so many more survivors are already benefitting from your generosity…thank you!!!
Just a few weeks ago, we had our annual Games Night at the beautiful home of Kathy and Henry Mannheim. The pictures won’t totally convey the fun and warmth of the evening, but with games like Craps, Mahjong, a special crossword puzzle created by member Debbie Ellerin, Trivial Pursuit, Catan, an incredible buffet and wonderful raffle prizes, it was a wonderfully successful evening!
In the last year, we have lost too many valued members of Shelters for Israel, but they are never forgotten and their support of Shelters for Israel lives on in their devotion to Israel, having helped so many people of all ages and from all walks of life.
As we write this, Purim is approaching, and of course soon after Passover will follow. We wish you all safe and Happy Holidays, wherever you may be celebrating. We are in the process of planning our next luncheon, probably in the beginning of November but we plan to have other events before the luncheon and hope to see you then!!!

“Yasher Koach” to
Sophia Mevorakh from your Shelters for Israel Family!
Sophia spoke so beautifully at our Luncheon this past November, and explained how she chose the Shelters for Israel Latet/ Aid for Life Holocaust Survivors Assistance Project in Northern Israel
as a beneficiary of a portion of her Bat Mitzvah gifts. Her Tzedakah was an inspiration to all who attended the luncheon.
Sophia explained her connection to ‘Shelters,’ as the great-granddaughter of the late Ruth Rogier, Past President and Alain Rogier, very dedicated members and Holocaust survivors, as well as through her grandparents Claire and Mel Kosasky and her parents Nicole and Itay Mevorakh.
Thank you Sophia!

Dear Shelters Family,
Passover is approaching and, as we did last year we are joining with Hineni Jerusalem to sponsor meals this Pesach for Holocaust survivors.
Your generosity last year was overwhelming, and enabled
us to help Hineni Jerusalem feed many additional
survivors in need. Your support now in any amount is
most appreciated as we hope to enable Hineni Jerusalem
to provide an additional 500 survivors with provisions to
observe Pesach.
Thank you again for your support. You may donate online at www.SheltersforIsrael.orgPlease add a note that your donation is for “Hineni”.
