Pressure stabilisation
drinking water
Reliable pressurisation is the basic requirement for a gentle and trouble-free operation
of heating, solar and cooling water systems. Completly sealed, modern systems with
Statico, Compresso, Transfero and Pleno are the traditional hallmarks of the Pneumatex
pioneers.
The quality of the heat transfer medium is decisive for the reliability and durability of a
system. Zeparo separators ensure bubble-free and sludge-free water. Vento degassing
devices also remove dissolved gases almost completely and are therefore particularly
effective as problem solvers.
A stable water supply and economical, gentle handling of precious drinking water re -
sources is the core benefit of our Aquapresso expansion vessels. All aspects of specific
hygienic requirements are met.

CalculationHeating systems TAZ ≤ 110 °C following EN 12828,
solar systems ENV 12977-1
Our on line calculation program
SelectP! is based on an advan-
ced calculation method and data
base. Therefore results may deviate
slightly in marginal areas.
1) In solar systems to ENV12977-1:
Collector volume VK that can evaporate
when not in operation; otherwise VK = 0
2) The formula for the minimum pres-
sure P0 applies to the installation of
the pressure maintenance on the
suction side of the circulation pump.
In case of a pressure-side installation
P0 is to be increased by the pump
pressure Δ p.
3) Add 5 litre when a Vento is installed
in the system.
4) The safety valves must work within
these limits.
5) Necessary for:
heating systems tR > 70 °C,
cooling water systems tmin < 5 °C,
not for Transfero TV and TPV.

Aquapresso in potable hot water systems
Aquapresso save valuable drinking water in potable hot water systems. The expansion water is not
lost anymore through the safety valve but is absorbed by the Aquapresso. The correct setting of the
pre set pressure is of importance for a faultless and reliable operation.
Pre set pressure
Initial pressure
Safety valve
Nominal volume
P0 ≤ pa – 0,3 bar
VN ≥ VSp * e
The pre set pressure of the Aquapresso is set at
least 0.3 bar below the initial pressure pa.
The initial pressure corresponds to the flow pres-
sure pFl. It should be kept at a constant level by
means of the installation of a pressure reducer in
the cold water line.
The non-operative pressure pR in the drinking water
network must not exceed 80 % of the response
pressure safety valve.
VSp is the nominal volume of the drinking water heater.

Approvals
Aquapresso are designed for drinking
water systems. As there are no uniform
European standards, please observe
the drinking water approvals for the
individual countries with respect
to the selection. These are decisive
for the deployment of flowfresh fully
flow-through or no flow-through
Aquapresso.
Aquapresso A...F with bypass
If the max. volumeflow Vmax is larger
than the nominal flow VD for flow-
through Aquapresso A...F, then the
Aquapresso is to be installed with a
bypass. The bypass is to be dimen-
sioned for the difference water quantity
with a flowspeed of 2 m/s.

Aquapresso in pressure-boosting systems stabilize the drinking water network and reduce the
switching frequency. They can be installed at the low pressure and high pressure sides of a pressure-
boosting system. The mains pressure side ist always to be coordinated with the water supply

1) Temperature controller sufficient according to standard, but not recommended.2) Minimum pressure or flow limiters can be used as an alternative. For central roof units above 300 kW
not additionally, 1 low-water protection is sufficient.3) Dimensioning for water discharge with 1 litre/kWh possible if the primary temperature does not exceed
the evaporation temperature with the safety valve opening pressure PSV.4) Automatic water make-up device (e.g. Pleno) or minimum pressure limiter.5) Substitution with additional TAZ and PAZ possible. EN 12828 does not contain constructive specifications.
We recommend to proceed according to the known state of the art of the countries,
e.g. SWKI 93-1 in Switzerland or DIN 4751-2 in Germany.6) Only if the vapour pressure pD at flow temperature tpr is bigger than safety valve opening pressure PSV.

The Principle
Compresso Pressure maintenance + Pleno Water make-up + Vento Degassing = Compresso CPV.
The TecBox ➀ with BrainCube combines all these functions.
Heating up:
• Water flows into the expansion vessel ➁.
• If the system pressure rises above the set level PIS+ then the spill valve opens.
Cooling down:
• Water flows from the expansion vessel ➁ back into the system.
• If the pressure drops below the minimum level PIS– the compressor starts.
If the level in the vessel drops below the minimum LIS– the water make-up function is activated.
The water make-up is continuously monitored for volume, time and frequency and is automatically
stopped if FIQ+ is exceeded.
The system water can be degassed either continuously or in pre set intervals Keco.
The compressor controlled pressurisation station Compresso CPV with integral vacuum degassing
and water make-up combines the most accurate pressurisation with the most effective degassing
to provide maximum functionality.

Power up to 14.5 bar
TPV 19.2 P
TPV 19.2-60 P
The boom in Asia and the general tendency in urban areas to build higher and higher has been
accelerating the demand for pressure maintenance stations designed for particularly high pressures.
The Transfero family is therefore being extended with the TPV...P types for pressures above 10 bar.
TPV...P – power based on proven technology
One type is available with power output of about 10 MW and max. working pressure of about
14.5 bar. It is generally fitted with the Fillsafe water make-up and Oxystop degassing systems,
and is designed especially for installation in heating systems. The PowerCube panel is designed
for a 3 x 400 V/50 Hz input and is fitted with an Emergency Off mains isolator. An optional 60 Hz
version is also available.
Advantages for Pneumatex
• The system has multiple applications (new buildings, reconstruction, heating, refrigerating, …).
• Proven technology - now also for high pressures.
• Multifunctionality ensures little assembly work and automatic, reliable operation.
fillsafe
fillsafe water make-up uses a break tank.
oxystop
The well-proven oxystop degassing system allows reliable, low-gas operation.

➊
Redox not only embodies all the well-known principles of the Zeparo separators, but
can also reduce the oxygen content in the system water. Redox is therefore suitable for
comprehensive water treatment in small heating, solar and chilled water systems
1. Efficient venting
With the leakfree automatic air vent, the separated micro bubbles and gases produced
by corrosion are evacuated dry.
2. Separation of micro bubbles
The helistill separator separates micro bubbles. The system water becomes free of
bubbles, and the installation is thus protected from erosion.
3. Oxygen reduction
The special Redox anode ZPR reduces oxygen content. The wearing away of the anode
material can be easily checked using the magnetic rod.
When used up, the Redox anode ZPR is replaced by the installer.
4. Separation of sludge
The helistill separator separates and removes sludge. Sludge accumulation and furring will
be prevented.
5. Magnetite absorption
The magnetic rod increases magnetite absorption and can also be used for checking the
wear on the Redox anode ZPR.
Installation | Assembly | Operation
It can be installed in old or new buildings, especially in mixed installations where there is a
high proportion of plastic. For example, the Redox removes the oxygen permeating through
under-floor heating systems, thus protecting components that are susceptible to corrosion.
The Redox is installed directly at places where there is oxygen ingress, e.g. under floor
heating systems. If several heating circuits are present, we recommend installing in each
heating circuit.

A low loss header suitable for the hydraulic coupling of primary and secondary heating circuits com-
plete with deaeration and dirt separation. They are installed between the heat generator and the
heating cicuits. Effective deaeration is only given if the maximum static height HB is not exceeded
table.
tmax | °C 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 10
HB | mWs 15,0 13,4 11,7 10,0 8,4 6,7 5,0 3,3 1,7
It is important that the volumetric flow rates between V1 and V2 are suitably adjusted.
Example A: Primary flow rate V1 bigger than Secondary flow rate V2
To be used where the secondary flow rates V2 are reduced through mixing of the return water so
that the boiler can no longer be regulated. Not suitable for condensing boilers Example B.
Example B: Primary flow rate V1 less than Secondary flow rate V2
Use with condensing boilers and under floor heating systems. The secondary flow rate V2 of the
under floor heating circuit is bigger than the flow rate through the condensing boiler V1. Hot water
circuits should be connected on the primary side of the low loss header.
Example A: V1 > V2

Lock shield valves are required for isolating and draining expansion vessels. Pneumatex has
developed its own lock shield valve DLV, which meets all requirements and offers more than the
commercially available models.
DLV 20 | DLV 25
Quick assembly
The lock shield valves DLV 20 and 25 have a flat sealing union for direct connection to Pneumatex
expansion vessels.
Rapid draining
Commercially available lock shield valves have been quite rightly criticised for their poor draining
capacity. The DLV drain cock is sufficiently dimensioned for expansion vessels greater than 80 litres,
and can be connected directly to a DN 15 drain hose.
Safe operation
The DLV can be opened and closed only with an Allen key, which is included in the delivery. It
therefore meets the EN 12828 requirement for a safety device to prevent accidental closing.
System technology
In future, lock shield valves DLV will normally be integrated with the Compresso and Transfero
systems. This simplifies on-site assembly and ensures correct installation to professional standards.
Installation | Assembly | Operation
The lock shield valve DLV is being offered in sizes DN 15, DN 20 and DN 25. On Pneumatex vessels,
this corresponds to a nominal volume of up to 800 litres. Pneumatex vessels of 18 – 800 litre capacity
have been adapted accordingly for the flat sealing connections. They can also be fitted to other
makes of vessel, of course, provided the vessels have a similar G or R connection.

Static height
Water column between the highest point of the system and the connecting branch of the
ex pan sion vessel, for water-controlled pressure-maintaining systems with pump (Transfero)
referred to the suction joint of the pump.
Maximum static height for the deployment of bubble separators
Maximum static height for the deployment of bubble separators. It depends on the temperature
conditions at the place of installation of the separator.
Minimum pressure
Lower limit value for the pressure maintenance. It is mainly defined by the static height HST and
the vapour pressure pD. If the value is fallen short of the function of the pressure maintenance
cannot be ensured. For large systems and temperature limits above 100 °C the pressure limiting
devices are triggered.
Pre set pressure to be set at the gas side.
Be careful with respect to Aquapresso in drinking water systems! If the drinking water pressure
falls short of the pre set pressure this may lead to pressure blows and to an increased bubble
wear ( Initial pressure pa).
The minimum pressure P0 is calculated by the BrainCube control from the static height HST and
the vapour pressure pD (TAZ).
Minimum required equipment pressure, e.g. NPSH requirement for pumps or boilers
Vapour pressure
According to EN 12828 the excess pressure towards the atmosphere to prevent evaporation.
Initial pressure
Lower threshold for an optimum pressure maintenance. During the operation it must always be
above the minimum pressure. We recommend at least 0.3 bar. For systems with minimum
pressure limiters this value must be selected such that the triggering of the limiters is prevented in
all operating modes. With respect to Pneumatex devices with BrainCube control the initial pressure
is calculated internally by the control.
Pressure with minimum system temperature after feeding the water reserve. Water make-up
devices in the sense of a pressure maintenance monitoring device according to EN 12828 must
be triggered if the value is fallen short of. If the filling temperature is equal to the lowest system
temperature the initial pressure corresponds to the filling pressure.
e.g. heating systems: lowest system temperature ~ filling temperature ~ 10 °C.
Pressure at which the pump or the compressor must be triggered.
Pressure of the drinking water network before the Aquapresso. It must also always be greater
than the pre set pressure at flow conditions.
Final pressure
Upper threshold for an optimum pressure maintenance. It must be at least 0.5 bar below the
safety valve response pressure. For systems with maximum pressure limiters it must be selected
such that the triggering of the limiters is prevented in all operating modes.
The highest pressure to be assumed after the max. system temperature has been achieved.
The pressure at which the spill device must open at the latest.
The highest pressure to be assumed after the absorption of the drinking water to be stored.
Response pressure safety valve
According to EN ISO 4126-0 the pressure at which the safety valve at the heat generator begins
to open.

Maximum system temperature
Maximum temperature for the calculation of the volume expansion. For heating systems the
dimensioned flow temperature at which a heating system is to be operated with the lowest
outside temperature to be assumed (standard outside temperature according to EN 12828). For
cooling systems the max. temperature that is achieved due to the operation mode or standstill,
for solar systems the temperature up to which an evaporation is to be avoided.
Lowest system temperature
Lowest temperature for calculating expansion volumes. The lowest system temperature is equal
to the freezing point. It is dependant on the percentage of antifreeze additives. For water without
additives tmin = 0.
Primary flow temperature
Maximum Flow temperature in primary circuit of heat exchangers (indirect fired).
Return temperature
Return temperature of the heating system with the lowest outside temperature to be assumed
(standard outside temperature according to EN 12828).

Dynamically like a pump, elastically like a compressor
Quality characteristic for Pneumatex Transfero pressure maintaining stations of the sizes 4.1 to 10.1 and 4.2 to 10.2
• Pressure gradient controlled pump speed.
• Self-optimising partial load operation and elastical connecting and disconnecting dynamic.
• Highest performance development – but can be metered, thus system protecting, smooth pump operation
with minimised switching frequency.
• Minimisation of the necessary pressure accumulator volume.
Effective partial-vacuum degassing
Quality characteristic for Pneumatex degassing systems in Transfero pressure maintaining stations TV and TPV.
• Degassing of the system and make-up water in a special vessel with slight vacuum on approx.
atmospheric gas saturation. Thus completely bubble-free water.
• Degassing programs for continuous operation and eco interval operation.
• Degassing outside the Transfero primary vessel, because we have detected:
1. With the usual degassing of oxygen-free system water in the expansion vessel, this can become enriched
with atmospheric oxygen through diffusion.
2. The gas discharge during degassing in the expansion vessel takes place with neutral pressure conditions which
are dependent on the diaphragm tension. This decreases the effectiveness and involves the risk of drawing in air.
• No operational costs through follow-up venting.
• No consequential costs due to system corrosion, cavitation, erosion. No oxygen absorption of the system
water during degassing. Significant reduction of the oxygen content of the make-up water.
• Effective degassing through defined gas discharge with overpressure at the end of the degassing cycle.
• Negligible operational costs through time-controlled eco interval operation.
• Quick degassing through adjustable time-limited permanent operation.
Comprehensive spray-type degassing in the vacuum
Quality characteristic for Pneumatex Vento degassing devices and Compresso CPV pressure maintaining stations.
• Degassing of the system and make-up water in a vacuum vessel with degassing programs
for permanent operation and eco automatic or eco interval operation.
• Dynamic atomizing process with spin effect for the almost complete separation of gas from water.
• Controlled security by vacuum test.
• No operational costs through subsequent venting.
• Even with large air ingress e.g. repairs, no formation of bubble due to strongly absorptive water.
• No consequential costs due to system corrosion, cavitation, erosion. Active corrosion minimisation through
separation of reactive gases in the system and make-up water.
• Negligible operational costs through time-controlled eco interval operation with Vento V 3 and Compresso CPV.
• Optimised operational costs through gas-content dependent eco automatic operation from Vento V 4 E.
• Quick degassing through adjustable time-limited permanent operation

Establishment of an installation company
Carl Stücklin establishes a company for the «Construction phase of central heating and sanitary systems». He
soon stands out from his competitors due to his unconventional ideas.
From installation company to the production and development company
Under the leadership of sons Paul, Kurt and Julius, the Stücklin company develops following the hard years of war
to a system supplier. Now the company is capable of designing and manufacturing. With own boilers and radiators,
everything can be offered from one source.
The expansion technology arrives – and sealed heating systems are born
The boiler construction is still in the foreground. However the revolution of the expansion technology is imminent.
| In the mid fifties Paul Stücklin is the first to install a bag of butyl rubber into a expansion vessel. These are the
first stages of the sealed heating systems, the birth of the legendary airproof butyl bag as we know it today. | One
pionieer action is followed by the next. | In 1965 – the first series-manufactured compressor automat in the world.
| 1972 – the first transferomat. | From 1977, Andreas Stücklin manages the fate of the company.
The expansion technology becomes the core business
At the end of the eighties, all activities are focussed on the sealed expansion technology. | In light of the awareness
that sealed systems cannot solve all problems, Pneumatex applies for a degassing patent in 1995. | 1995 – a
milestone: Vento, the first affordable vacuum degasser for heating systems experiences its success ful launch.
