S/5™ Light™ Monitor
S/5™ Light™ MonitorThe S/5™ transport monitoring solution—versatile and easy to use
Monitoring of oxygenation and circulation before and after surgery is essential. So is continuousmonitoring during sedation, local anesthesia, pain management, critical care transports, emergency care and sub-critical observation.
The Light Monitor helps you measure your patient’s vital signs efficiently and without interruption,at the bedside or during transport. You can also collect and transfer your patient’s trend data with anoptional data card or retrieve real-time patient data remotely through the Datex-Ohmeda network.
Portable monitoring of vital signs with data transfer
Easy to use. The Light Monitor is preconfigured.
To start monitoring, simply press the start button
and connect to your patient. Monitoring is automatic.
The Light Monitor has an optimized number of keys
to help ensure efficient monitoring, including direct
access keys for the functions you use most. Numerical
and graphical patient data trending is automatic
and allows you to print trends using an optional
3-channel recorder.
Portable. The Light Monitor is designed for portability
to ensure data continuity between care sites, and for
use in emergency or during transport within the
hospital where continuous monitoring is essential.
It easily mounts on a bed rail. The optional battery
module gives you two hours of uninterrupted monitor-
ing while on the move.
Data continuity. The DataCard lets you collect and
store patient trend data for integration with the patient
record maintained by other Datex-Ohmeda monitors
equipped with record keeping. The Light Monitor
also connects to the Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Central
to enable central viewing, alarms, printing and
real-time remote information retrieval to other
S/5™ monitors.
Wide range of options. The Light Monitor’s value is
maximized by its wide range of options, which provide
an efficient point-of-care tool to assist you in managing
your patient care processes.
Vital signs. The Light Monitormeasures ECG, respiration,SpO2, NIBP and temperaturewith two optional InvBPchannels and mainstream CO2.
The high-resolution 9 inchmonochrome screen showsfour crisp traces with numericsand four digit fields, givingeight parameter values.
Additional optional functionsinclude 3-channel thermalarray recorder, 2-hour batterymodule, DataCard and networkcompatibility.
Mounting solutions for wall, roll standand fixed vertical pole let you position the
Light Monitor for optimum visibility.
The balanced handle with hooks makes iteasy to lift, carry and attach the Light
Monitor to any bed or wall rail.
Use the DataCard (optional) to collectpatient trend data during transport and
integrate it into other Datex-OhmedaS/5 monitoring systems.
The optional battery module provides twohours of continuous monitoring.
Efficient. The Light Monitor’s large, configurable
nine inch display provides outstanding visibility
and definition at long distances and a wide range of
viewing angles, helping you to see your patient’s vital
signs at a glance. The clear battery display makes it
easy to assess battery status, both during transport
and operation at the bedside.
Expandable. The Light Monitor lets you start with the
monitoring essentials and upgrade with recorder and
networking options later. Also, since its user interface,
accessories and service requirements are compatible
with other Datex-Ohmeda S/5 monitoring systems, you
can easily integrate a Light Monitor into these systems.
Alternatively, the Light Monitor can be your first step
towards an advanced monitoring system.

System 5, Datex-Ohmeda’s product family, is
our strongest commitment yet to your clinical
environment. It promises you the freedom to
deal with the future on your own terms.
Care in five dimensions
PatientDatex-Ohmeda’s long history of clinical innovation is the backbone of System 5. Improving patient outcome and safety will always be
our goal. New products and advanced clinical concepts will be introduced regularly along with best-in-class monitoring, ventilation, and information management. Areas of current development include neuromonitoring, gastric tonometry, and drug delivery.
ProfessionalsTo doctors and nurses, System 5 means ease of use and comprehensive, practical design. They see it in the user interface, uniformly
easy to use across each application. They see it in how System 5 standardizes wherever possible while meeting application-specific requirements. Every piece of equipment is carefully developed, with the integration goal in mind, to fit ergonomically
in the workplace.
InvestmentThe System 5 approach secures your investment in the care process. Your decisions are backed by the System 5
assurance of continuous evolution and compatibility. Invest gradually as and when you need, or build a complete system. You have the option of connecting compatible equipment or information systems made by other vendors.
IntegrationSystem 5 integrates at many levels. At the device level, technology is packaged in very compact form. Individual devices
can be integrated with each other as required. At the care process level, a data continuum can be built for each care pathway.Duplication of data entry is eliminated, and easy access is provided throughout the process.
ProcessSystem 5 gives you every opportunity to manage the care process as a whole. Software tools allow users to store cumulative data
on drug usage, clinical events and vital signs. An accurate picture of care quality and efficiency can be drawn by referring to the records.Care practices can then be planned with more insight, and the effects of changes can be measured continuously.
