Math Curriculum
* Our new math curriculum is based on the internationally-driven Common Core State Standards.
* The goal is for students to use math practices (UCARE) to develop deep understandings.
* UCARE stands for understanding, computing, applying, reasoning, and engaging

Unit Planning/Grading Policy
• MS shifted to a unit planning; a unit includes certain topics/skills and these skills are taught over a period (a month or more).
• This process will include different types of assessments:
Pre- Unit Assessment: is done at the beginning of the unit to check where the students stand before we start the unit.
Weekly (Check for understanding) On-going assessments (every couple of weeks) Post-Unit (End of unit test) Project
Unit Planning/Grading Policy
Behavior/Attendance 5% A grade will be taken weeklyStudent’s Achievement/Participation 15 % A grade will be taken weeklyMental Math 10 % A grade will be taken weeklyHomework 10 % A grade will be taken weeklyOn-Going Assessment 10% 2-3 times per unitWord Problem 10 % A grade will be taken weeklyProjects 20 % 1 project per unitPre-Post Test 20 % 1 test per unit.
* After each assessment students will complete a data tracker, to point out the skills students mastered or struggling with.
* Progress Report will be sent through plus-portal to keep parents updated about the grades. (Be sure that your plus portal accounts are activated if not please visit the registration office to updated.
Homework: New concepts are taught daily homework is assigned
twice a week through IXL. Students received their credentials last week. Homework Schedules are posted on the school’s website
weekly.
