Looking For PLC MEmber s

Are you interested in creating Learning Situations in a professional learning community? The PROCEDE association has granted funds that would allow teachers to be released to work on a DBE implementation project. The final presentation of these learning situations would culminate at the QPAT convention planned for November 23 and 24, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. All DBE course codes are considered. Complete the form below to apply for this PLC community. More details will be given to the final list of participants. We thank everyone in advance for their time and support. Creating LSs is a great way to study the DBE curriculum.

Lucidchart is a great tool that provides template charts, diagrams, and maps. According to the Learning Disabilit ies Association of America, "graphic organizers can help to visualize and construct ideas, organize and/or sequence information, plan what to write, increase reading comprehension, brainstorm, organize problems and solutions, compare and contrast ideas, show cause and effect, and more. The ability to color-code thoughts in a picture can help

significantly in understanding and remembering the information". The association continues to specify that they can help people with learning disabilit ies "understand and remember information better when ideas, words, and concepts are associated with pictures, diagrams, charts, and maps".

This software tool can easily be acquired in several ways such as from the Goolge drive apps, an add- in in the Microsoft Offfice suite or downloaded from the App store for free.

Two physics teachers from the Commission Scolair e des Patr iotes

have developed a ser ies of lab videos for Kinematics (Physics 5061).

Although they are conducted in French, they are str aightfor ward

and the footage is well done. The videos can be accessed via the

fol low ing l inks. They are also accessible via the DBE websi i te.

- The Ministr y has created a f lowchar t that depicts the

enti r e Science & Technology program. It can be accessed at

w w w.dbeimplementation.weebly.com under the Science &

Technology tab.

- Car refour FGA has r ecrui ted a group of teachers from the

French sector to w r i te some LSs for the level 4 & 5 Math TS

and SN programs. Car refour w i l l have these LSs tr anslated

in English. PROCEDE w i l l continue this ini tiative into next

year.
