BioMy name is Iris, I am a London-based mixed media artist. I live in the heart of Bloomsbury with my beautiful family (husband, 2 boys & 1 cat).I am passionate about mixed media art, art journaling and inspiring people to follow their inner creativity.

You can often find me at my art desk pursuing my many arty interests like art journaling, abstract painting, playing with art supplies and making mini journals.

Currently my favourite art supplies are: fluorescent pink everything, gold, lime green, off white & teal paint, black ink, Daniel Smith watercolours in Lunar Black, a brayer and Stabilo All pencil.

1.Select several of your paint colours. Using a paper towel smoosh (wipe) paint across the page. Experiment with overlapping or not overlapping the paint.

2.Using a brayer add more paint on top. Add specific areas of colour, rather than giving the whole page the same treatment.

3.Using a plastic card, scrape paint across the surface of your page. You can go back be-tween step 2 and 3 several times until you like the result. Concentrate darker colours at the top and bottom, and use lighter col-ours in the middle.

4.With your Stabilo All pencil, draw a horizon line. Activate the pencil with water.

5.Fill your foreground in with dark watercol-our paint.

6.Draw a figure. Hold your pen really loosely at the end to get imperfect squiggly lines.

7.Draw as many figures as you want. I also recommend using your non-dominant hand to stay loose and let go of perfection.

8.Add paint to the figures. I used white acryl-ics for the faces, purple and red watercol-ours for the hair and cheeks. You can use any colours you want.

9.Add stamps to your page using the same paint colours you used for the background. Remember to clean your stamps immediate-ly if you use acrylic paint on them.

10.Use your pencils to add detail to the back-ground. Scratches, symbols, writing, secret messages, anything goes. Spending time on step 9 and 10 will give your page a lot of richness.

11.Add a word with your letter stickers. Seal them with gel medium and add some wa-tercolours on top to integrate them into the page.
