Who Casts the ShadowSANDY HACKETT, Producer (Joey Bishop). At a young age, Sandy Hackett was inspired by his father, legendary comedian, Buddy Hackett, to enter the world of comedy. Buddy was a powerful teacher and role model; an avid reader, studying diligently, and re-examining his comedy techniques. He taught his son by example. The younger Hackett soon learned that an evening with Buddy Hackett was an evening of comedy and entertainment at its best. [The

senior Hackett passed away on June 30, 2003.] This was the foundation from which Hackett began his development, growth and

versatility as a performer, producer, writer and entertainer.

At age eleven, Hackett accompanied his father for a scheduled appearance on “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In.” It was there that he caught the eye of the show’s producers and made his first professional television debut with John Wayne. Hackett graduated with a degree in Hotel Administration from UNLV for which he also served as UNLV’s Director of Entertainment. He produced “The Sahara Showcase of Talent” at the Las Vegas based Sahara Hotel & Casino for four years before it was renamed “Sandy Hackett’s Talent Showcase” and ran for another decade. Additionally, Hackett hosted and produced the show at Sahara Reno, Sahara Tahoe and the old Mint and Dunes Hotel & Casinos. During this time, Hackett introduced over ten thousand acts, including many first-time appearances by Andrew “Dice” Clay, Howie Mandel, Gary Muledeer, The Unknown Comic, Tony D’Andrea, Kenny Kerr, George Wallace and many others.

For the next 40 years he led his people through the desert in search of the Promised Land, stopping at comedy clubs to learn his craft and entertain the masses. His father came to see him one night and asked him to come share the stage with him. It was a dream come true for the younger Hackett. He accepted and then got to travel and learn from the master of comedy for the next 10 years as his opening act, road manager, stage manager, navigator and best friend.

Throughout the 1990’s, Hackett successfully ran his own comedy club in Laughlin, Nevada. An accomplished agent, manager, event planner, and buyer of talent, he became the Entertainment Director for Sun City Summerlin, booking talent for an incredible 400+ shows in two years at the Starbright Theater.

When HBO announced it was going to do a movie about the Rat Pack, longtime family friend, Joey Bishop, called Hackett and said “Sandy, I think you’d be perfect to play me!” Hackett replied, “Uncle Joey, that’s great! Who do I call? What do I do?” Bishop said, “I don’t know! Nobody called me!” The idea of playing Bishop struck a chord with Sandy. Bishop (one of Buddy’s best friends and a man the younger Hackett grew up with) was someone Sandy had long admired. He decided to pen his own show, recreating Bishop and his famous buddies, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., and thus, “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show” was born…and so was the baby Moses, but that’s another story for another time.

Hackett, together with his beautiful and talented wife, producer/director/singer, Lisa Dawn Miller, have created and produced “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack

KENNY JONES (Sammy Davis, Jr). Kenny Jones is a gifted singer, songwriter, musician and recording artist. He has received raved reviews and standing ovations worldwide. He has traveled and appeared in major showrooms, casinos, theaters and private country clubs throughout the world. Such as Chicago, Dallas, California, New York, Atlantic City, St. Croix as well as Las Vegas and many more. Jones has also made several radio and TV appearances. In June of 2013 Kenny was awarded the keys to the city in his home town of Atchison, Kansas.

ANGELO BABBARO (Frank Sinatra). “I was born twenty years too late,” quips Angelo Babbaro as he smirks and dabs out his cigarette. “The Stetsons, the work ethic, the smoke filled lounges and...the music!” Babbaro was born a generation before the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, and Tony Bennett. Valentine’s Day 2007 at the historic Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown Ohio, Babbaro sang his heart out as Frank Sinatra and won his audience over. If you don’t know already, Youngstown is a

tough crowd. Sinatra has said himself, if you can play Youngstown, you can play anywhere. Today. Angelo is enjoying life on the road and under the lights.

TOM WALLEK (Dean Martin). Tom Wallek is a Brooklyn born comedian, actor and impressionist. In 1984, Wallek moved to Las Vegas where he met and became friends with Sandy

Hackett, son of legendary comedian Buddy Hackett. Sandy was the host of a showcase at the Mint Hotel downtown. He gave Wallek the needed stage time and advice to hone his

talent. Small clubs and venues followed. Then in 1991 Wallek landed a part in Comedy Cabaret at the Maxim and later that

year performed as the lead in Tropical Heat, a show at the Rio opposite the late Dana Plato.

Show,” the most successful original live theatrical production of its kind. The show tours nationwide to great critical acclaim, and has earned thousands of fans from around the globe.

In 2014 Hackett successfully launched the premiere of his new show, “My Buddy,” a live theatrical production about the life of his father and the deep bond they shared. Directed by Miller, the show opened in 2014 to wonderful reviews and standing ovations at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and is now on tour throughout the U.S. Hackett and Miller reside in Los Angeles with their two beautiful children, 15 year-old actor/singer, Oliver (who has already shared the stage with Stevie Wonder), and 9 year-old dancer/singer/actor, Ashleigh.

LISA DAWN MILLER, Producer/Songwriter (Frank’s One Love). “Frank’s One Love” is a mystery, a character representing emotion many of us have felt at some point in our lives, in our own personal and unique way. A case could be made that Frank Sinatra’s greatest love was Ava Gardner but in adding the original, timeless, universal song, “Wasn’t I A Good Time” written by the late, legendary songwriter, Ron Miller, the producers

have chosen to let the audience decide for themselves who “Frank’s One Love” truly is, thus the “One Love” exists somewhere in our own imagination.

New York Cabaret Scenes writes, “Lisa Dawn Miller’s show at The Metropolitan Room was one of the best shows we have ever seen. Very rarely do you get to see a singer cast a magic spell on stage and have the audience in the palm of her hand.”

Jeff Rossen, Chicago Editor/Recordings Reviewer, Cabaret Scenes Magazine said of Miller’s “Fly Away” CD debut, “Take a collection of songs of exceptional quality and breadth, set them in striking arrangements and then turn the lyrics and melodies over to a singer whose voice can cut straight through the heart, and you’ve got one heck of a dazzling debut.”

Lisa’s father was legendary songwriter, Ron Miller. Some of his hit songs include “For Once In My Life,” “Touch Me In The Morning,” “Place In the Sun,” “Yester-me, Yester-you, Yesterday,” “Heaven Help Us All,” “I’ve Never Been to Me,” “Someday at Christmas,” “If I Could” and many more.

Lisa has produced several music videos, including for her son, 15 year-old singer/actor, Oliver Richman – who has already shared the stage with Stevie Wonder. She recently produced the single and video, “For Once In My Life – The 50th Anniversary Release” performed by Oliver. Lisa wrote and produced the debut single, “Let’s Go!” for her daughter, 9 year-old singer/dancer, Ashleigh Hackett, who recently headlined the Charleston Kids Fair and her follow-up hit, “Can You Feel It!” Lisa is currently producing and directing a documentary about her father with a live musical production to follow entitled, “For Once In My Life – The Great American Ron Miller Songbook.”

In 2016, Lisa released part one and part two of a three collection EP, entitled “Hello You” and “My Turn Begins Today,” respectively, in which she makes her songwriting debut. She wrote “It’s Christmas” and “My Favorite Time of Year” along with her creative partner, Mark Matson, which premiered in “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Christmas,” during its nationwide holiday tour. She can be heard in the film, “When Comedy Went To School” for which she produced and performed the film’s opening and closing theme songs.

In addition to “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show,” Lisa, together with her husband, Producer/Director/Actor/Comedian, Sandy Hackett, Miller successfully launched

BUDDY HACKETT (Voice of God/Inspiration). Legendary Comedian, Buddy Hackett (1924-2003), paved the way for every comedian today, shaping and influencing generations of comedy. For over 60 years, Hackett entertained audiences around the world. Having appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson more than any other comedian, Hackett was one of the most adored entertainers of his time.

The institution of Hackett speaks for itself. A brilliant film career, Buddy starred in some of the most successful movies of his time, “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,” “Music Man” and the Disney classics, “The Love Bug” and “The Little Mermaid.” Hackett starred in hundreds of television shows throughout the decades including his critically acclaimed performance as Lou Costello in “Bud and Lou” opposite, Harvey Korman.

He first burst on the scene with his now classic “Chinese Waiter” routine, which put him on the comedy map as the new funny kid on the block. Buddy Hackett’s tremendously versatile talent helped him conquer everything from the Catskills to Las Vegas, from Broadway to Hollywood and everywhere in between. Hackett was an idol and mentor to his comedy peers and countless young comedians and entertainers. Hackett’s contributions to the entertainment industry are, like his charitable and humanitarian contributions, enduring and profound.

Buddy received a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame directly in front of Disney’s legendary El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. Hackett also received a star in Palm Springs. In 2003 Buddy was the recipient (posthumously) of the prestigious Disney Legends Award, a lifetime achievement award for those with significant contributions to the Walt Disney Company.

Buddy Hackett is the father of comedian Sandy Hackett. Buddy originated and recorded the character of “God” for the younger Hackett’s hit show, “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show” before he passed away in 2003.

“My Buddy” in 2014, a live theatrical production about the life of her husband’s father, legendary comedian, Buddy Hackett, in which Miller directs. The show opened to wonderful reviews and standing ovations at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida and is now on tour throughout the U.S. Lisa is set to premiere her new show in April 2016, “Mandropause,” for which she is the co-writer and lyricist.

RON MILLER (Songwriter/Inspiration). Legendary songwriter, Ron Miller (1932-2007), is one of the most prolific and significant writers of our time. As one Motown Records’ original staff writers, some of Miller’s hits include “For Once In My Life,” “Touch Me In The Morning,” “Heaven Help Us All,” “Yester-me, Yester-you, Yesterday,” “I’ve Never Been A Woman Before,” “A Place In The Sun,” “Someday At Christmas,” “I’ve Never Been To Me” and “If I Could,” and many more.

Miller’s songs have sold in the hundreds of millions with recordings by some of the biggest recording artists of all time, such as Frank Sinatra, Barbra

Streisand, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé, Harry Connick, Jr., Celine Dion and even Justin Beiber. His songs have been featured in numerous top-grossing films and on countless television shows throughout the decades and have won multiple Grammy Awards including for “Heaven Help Us All” in 2005, the last song ever recorded by Ray Charles. Miller’s classic standard, “For Once In My Life,” is one of the most recorded songs in history, being recorded by over 400 major label artists. In 2007, “For Once In My Life” won multiple Grammy Awards for the Tony Bennett/Stevie Wonder collaboration and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for 2009. Miller received the Heroes and Legends Award (posthumously) in 2007, a lifetime achievement award in songwriting.

Miller wrote the book and lyrics to many musicals including “Daddy Goodness,” “Clothespins & Dreams,” “Satchmo,” and “Cherry,” (based on William’s Inge’s ‘Bus Stop’), for which he was handpicked by director, Josh Logan. Miller is the subject of a new film directed and produced by his daughter, Lisa Dawn Miller, entitled, “For Once In My Life – The Great American Ron Miller Songbook.” The film examines Miller’s legacy as a songwriter while it explores all the tragedies and triumphs in his personal life and what may have inspired him to write some of the greatest songs of our time.

After Miller passed away in 2007, several songs were discovered which have never been heard by (or released to) the public… until now. Of this, the younger Miller says, “I feel like I just found a treasure chest! All of these beautiful songs – that no one has heard yet – are all just as amazing as the hits….all standards, just waiting to be born and I can’t wait to share this treasure with the whole world!”

RYAN ROSE (Music Director). Ryan Rose studied music on a 4-year scholarship at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and has been playing drums professionally almost all his life, starting at the age of 13 playing in his grandfather’s band. He is a tremendously well-rounded drummer having studied and played many genres with a heavy emphasis on jazz, Latin, and Brazilian styles. He has played with such jazz legends as Ira Sullivan, and Johnny

O’Neil and world renowned percussionist Michito Sanchez.

MARK MATSON (Associate Producer). A veteran on the music and entertainment scene, Mark Matson has been a producer, songwriter, music arranger, musician (piano, guitar, drums) and recording engineer for over 25 years, having written and produced music for various genres, from rock to dance, to hip hop to country. He has worked with such music icons as Celine Dion, Sheryl Crow, Huey Lewis and Boyz II Men. Mark has co-written

many songs with his creative partner, Lisa Dawn Miller, including two new Christmas songs, “It’s Christmas” and “My Favorite Time of Year,” currently featured in “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Christmas.” He has also co-produced numerous music videos with Miller, including “For Once In My Life – The 50th Anniversary Release” by Oliver Richman, “Let’s Go!” by Ashleigh Hackett and “The Making of Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show.” In December 2015, Lisa Dawn Miller will be releasing a new CD, a collection of songs co-written and co-produced by Matson.
