Since organizations have content spread across multiple systems, it makes managing and securing it difficult. CAM solves this by providing a common layer across systems to enable orchestration, user adoption, management, and governance of content. It is designed to enable organizations to implement their privacy policies and assure both, internal stakeholders and clients, that set policies are being followed.

Matter Directory - Data MapThe matter directory is a data map. It tracks the location of content related to each matter across all supported systems. Organizations can configure the metadata that is tracked with each matter.

Master Metadata ManagementMaster Metadata Management enables organizations to align metadata across content systems. This empowers CAM to provision the same values across multiple systems. Master Metadata Management enables mapping of metadata into CAM’s data warehouse.

Matter / Workspace Provisioning & Management Provisioning enables creating and updating an object standing for a matter (e.g., workspace, site, team, share drive, folder, channel, etc.), in a content system with pre-defined templates representing a folder or channel structure. The creation and update process can be driven from Practice Management, Time & Billing, CRM, ERP, Human Capital Management, etc., and a form. Users can also leverage it to create additional folders from a pre-defined list with support for user-inputted prefix or suffix.

User & Group Management Across Systems CAM enables user and group management in content systems for both, internal and external users. Active Directory or Human Capital Management systems can be leveraged as systems of records to keep properties and group memberships in sync across systems.

Business Continuity Business continuity in CAM enables users to perform a profile search and download documents in case of outage. Access to end users is provided through a one-time password (OTP). Organizations have the option to store documents in their own AWS S3 instance for enhanced security.

Analytics – Metadata Security & Audit – Queries & Dashboards Administrators can leverage CAM’s data warehouse to report on matter and document metadata and audit records through SQL queries. Typical reports are provided for privacy, external user access, inappropriate activity, and user adoption. Leveraging variables, administrators can create standard queries for risk and records management teams. The same queries can be leveraged to create dashboards with configurable charts and graphs. Reports can also be scheduled to be sent via email.

Bulk Update of Metadata & Security Assigned administrators can perform bulk updates to security, metadata, and more, across tens of thousands of workspaces, folders, and documents. All bulk operations are audited.

Dynamic Groups – Matter Teams CAM manages matter access across systems through a user interface available in the matter directory or through a data feed from another system. In appropriate systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments, etc.), a unique group is created for each matter, eliminating the need for refiling documents to grant access.

Distributed Administration Across Supported Systems – Service DeskCAM offers a common layer of administration for a variety of actions across workspaces, folders, and documents. The right to perform each command, and columns & fields available to a user for searching, are granularly controlled.

ExportCAM enables bulk export of workspaces, folders, and documents through a zip file or a configured network path. Long file names and path limitations are automatically handled.

Rollback of Bulk ChangesRollback enables administrators to ‘undo’ previous changes made in bulk. CAM also tracks modifications made by the end user in source content systems for up to 3 changes, and then allows them to be restored.

Movement of Matters / Documents In & Between Systems Workspaces, folders, and documents can be seamlessly moved within and between systems, repositories or databases.

Event - Trigger FrameworkEvent-Trigger Framework permits for data-driven event workflows. Leveraging the framework, CAM can take an action with a content change event, such as document save, download, check-out, delete, and more. The framework supports predefined actions, such as notifications and custom actions. An administrator can upload code for custom actions. This may include making changes to data or calling other REST APIs with parameters. Custom actions are written in node.js and executed in a sandbox for security reasons.

Data Minimization / Retention Workflow Engine This feature set provides automation of data minimization and retention policies. The start of a policy can be scheduled from matter opening or closing. A policy can contain multiple actions such move, delete, declare record, change security, anonymize data, and more.

Personal Data Detection (PII)Personal data detection enables content systems to be scanned for documents containing personal data, such as phone numbers, social security numbers, drivers' licenses, and other national identifiers using natural language processing. Any document detected as having personal data is marked as such, and can be automatically secured to the matter team. PII can also be redacted in certain document types.
