Crop: Eggplant Proposed Denomination: ‘Sikat’ Description of the variety:

NSIC 2015 Eg 05H (‘Sikat’) has shorter fruits compared with variety ‘Morena’ and comparable in length with ‘Tanglaw’ and ‘Tanyag’. Fruits are cylindrical, uniformly purple with rounded fruit apex. The average fruit length and diameter of ‘Sikat’ is 19.32 cm and 3.64 cm, respectively. ‘Sikat’ has prostrate plant growth habit. Around 12 fruits of ‘Sikat’ is needed to make a kilogram. The stem has strong anthocyanin and medium hairiness. Its flower has medium purple color with violet petioles. The greenish purple leaf blades show intermediate lobing and intermediate blade tip angle. Its calyx have very few prickles and with medium anthocyanin intensity. ‘Sikat’ has intermediate field reaction to EFSB; generally moderately resistant to resistant field reactions against aphids, broad spider mites, thrips and moderate to intermediate field reaction to red spider mites and leafhoppers of eggplant hybrid variety ‘Sikat’ with Morena, Tanglaw and Tanyag in at least one cropping season. Similar moderate level infection of ‘Sikat’ with Morena, Tanglaw and Tanyag against bacterial wilt and fruit rot infection.

‘Sulit’ has prostrate plant growth habit. The stem has strong anthocyanin and medium hairiness. Its flower has light purple color with violet petioles. The leaf blades show intermediate lobing and intermediate blade tip angle with greenish violet color. ‘Sulit’ fruits are slim, slightly curved, and uniformly purple with protruded apex, and have strong glossiness at harvest. The average fruit length and diameter of ‘Sulit’ is about 24 cm and 3.30 cm, respectively. Around 10 fruits of ‘Sulit’ is needed to make a kilogram. Its calyx have very few prickles and with medium anthocyanin intensity. In general, ‘Sulit’ has intermediate to moderate level of resistance to field infestation of aphids, broad and red spider mites, thrips, and leafhoppers. It also has moderate level of infection against bacterial wilt and fruit rot diseases.

IPB Eggplant Inbred 1 (IPB EGi-1) has an erect plant attitude, The stem has medium anthocyanin coloration with medium to strong hairiness. Leaf margins are sinuate and leaf color are violet to green. Flowers have medium purple color. Fruits are uniformly cylindrical with lengths around 25cm and diameters of around 3.5 cm and pointed fruit apex. The color is uniformly purple with strong glossiness at harvest. The calyx has strong anthocyanin coloration and no spines.

IPB Eggplant Inbred 2 (IPB EGi-2) has an erect plant attitude. Its stem has medium to strong anthocyanin and medium hairiness. Leaf margins are sinuate and are green to violet in color. Flowers have light to medium purple color. Fruits are 23 to 30 cm long and 3.5 cm wide. They are uniformly cylindrical with weak curvature and have a rounded to pointed apex. The color is uniformly purple with strong glossiness at harvest. The calyx has medium anthocyanin coloration with no spines.

IPB Eggplant Inbred 3 (IPB EGi-3) has an erect plant attitude. Its stem has medium anthocyanin and moderate to strong hairiness. Leaf margins have weak sinuation and are green in color. Flowers have medium purple color. Fruits are short (around 15 cm) and have small diameters (around 2.61

cm); elongate with weak curvature and have rounded apex. The fruit color is uniformly medium purple with strong glossiness at harvest.

IPB Eggplant Inbred 4 (IPB EGi-4) has an erect to semi-erect plant attitude. Its stem has medium anthocyanin coloration and strong hairiness. Leaf margins have week sinuation. Fruits are short (around 15 cm) and have large diameters (around 3.8 cm). They are cylindrical with weak curvature and have a rounded to pointed apex. The color is a uniform medium to dark purple with medium to strong glossiness at harvest. The calyx has no anthocyanin coloration and has very weak to no spines.

NSIC 2013 Eg 03H (‘Tanglaw’) is an F1 hybrid eggplant which has a prostrate to semi-erect growth habit. The stem has medium to strong stem anthocyanin coloration with medium hairiness. Flowers are medium to purple in color and have violet petioles. The dark green leaf blades have intermediate lobing with an intermediate tip angle. The fruits are uniformly purple, cylindrical, about 17-20 cm in length with 3.0 cm diameter, slightly curved and have a rounded apex. ‘Tanglaw’ has medium to strong fruit glossiness at harvest. Anthocyanin coloration in the calyx is present but weak. ‘Tanglaw’ possess intermediate to moderate resistance to field infestations/infection of aphids, broad mites, red spider mites, thrips, and bacterial wilt.

NSIC 2013 Eg 02H (‘Tanyag’) has semi-erect to prostrate growth habit. The stem possess intermediate to strong anthocyanin and weak to intermediate hairiness. The flowers have intermediate purple color and petiole. The dark green lea has intermediate lobing and intermediate tip angle. The purple fruits are uniformly elongated, fruit is uniformly cylindrical, purple, short (around 19 cm) and diameter (3.5 cm) is wider than Mara, with round apex. On average, a total of 15 fruits of ‘Tanyag’ constitute a kilogram of produce. Glossiness of marketable fruits is intermediate to strong during harvest. The fruit calyx has very few prickles with weak anthocyanin coloration in lower portion.
