INTRODUCTION OF COTTAGE
A cottage is typically, a small house.
The word comes from England where it originally was a house that has a ground
floor and first floor.
In many places the word cottage is used to mean a small old-fashioned house
(example India)
In modern usage, a cottage is usually a modest, often luxurious building, typically
in a rural or semi-rural location.
In the India the term cottage denotes a small dwelling of traditional build.

ABSTRACT
The primary objective of under taking this project is to gain sufficient knowledge in
planning, analysis design and estimation of a COTTAGE building.
The analysis has been done by using STAAD Pro. & manually .
The various drawings are drafted by using STAAD Pro and Auto CAD software.
SYPNOSIS This building is to be designed for ground floor and first floor only. It consists of framed
structure.
The concrete used is M20 grade with a mix of 1:1.5:3 is used for slab and other PCC work.
It is designed as per IS 456:2000. It consists of all basic facilities like hall, rooms, dormitory
room, security room, generator room.
It is done by AutoCAD, MS Word, STADD Pro and MS Excel.
GUIDE REVIEW
We have learned a lots of things from our guide.
He has gave us a lot of valuable knowledge's about construction and construction
procedures.
We came to know the different rules and regulation in construction. The maximum and
minimum values of steps, floor height, slab depth etc.,
We visited two-three cottages building in Coimbatore and Avanishi side as our guide
recommended us to collect some ideas about cottage before starting our project.

DESIGN
INTRODUCTION
There are two main methods to design the structural members, they are working
stress method and limit state method.
Here, we adopt the limit state method for designing all the structural members
involved, in our project.
Both the methods are having the safety value. But, the most economical method
is the limits state method, which is adopted in every constructional design
nowadays.
Hence we planned to go for the limit state method of design. For our project work
we took only for important structural members to design they are slab, beam,
column and footing. The slab is designed by assuming it as simply supported with
four edges discontinuous, for easier design calculation.

ESTIMATION
Estimation is done by trade system.
The approximate cost of our building is 460000/-
Abstract Estimation is done by using SOR of TamilNadu.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded that as per NBC 2005, the Cottage Building is planned. The
Analysis is done by using STAAD PRO. The various Structural Elements such as
Slab, Beam, Column Footing are Designed manually is as per IS code. B
Total Area of the Land is 2206 sq.ft
The Approximate Estimation of the building is Rs.45,46,848/- (approx. 460000/- )
