First Authorisasoftwaretoolthatsupportsbeginningwriters,especiallythosewithspecialneedsacross

allphasesofthewritingprocess.Asacomputer-basedwritingenvironmentitoperatesinparallelwith

exemplarymodelsofwritinginstruction.FirstAuthorprovidesthewriterwithessentialaccommodations

suchaspictureprompts,wordbanks,on-screenkeyboard,auditoryfeedbackandothertoolstoensure

asuccessfulwritingexperience.Itisaccessibletoallstudents,includingthosewithseverespeechand

physicalimpairments.

1. LaunchFirstAuthorbyclickingtheFirstAuthoricon .

A student user file always displays a pencil in the upper right corner of the user file icon.

Add a Group

1. Click toaddagroup.

2. TypeinMorning GroupforPlease enter name of new group. ClicktheOKbutton.

Add a Student

1. Click toaddastudent.

2. TypeinChristianforPlease enter name of new user. ClicktheOKbutton.

Add all your students here and you can create a group later by dragging your student’s name to their group or groups.
