Dandeli Dandeli is a town in Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka state. It is close to 100 KMS from Belgaum, about 60 miles and is well connected with frequent state transport buses between the 2 places. Dandeli is encircled by Western Ghats and is located amidst a thick forest. There is a wildlife sanctuary in Dandeli, second biggest sanctuary in the state and is home to Black Panthers, Tigers, Leopards and Elephants. It was designated as Tiger reserve in 2007. Dandeli is on the banks of River Kali. Rivers Nagazari and Kaneri are its tributaries. Karnataka government is engaged in Power generation at this place, building several dams on this

Gokak falls

Gokak falls is located in Gokak town, 6 KMS away from the town centre. The falls is on river Ghataprabha. It is dubbed as local Niagara Falls, as the water from the river takes a leap after a long winding course down 52 meters over sand stone cliff. The surrounding is a picturesque gorge of rugged valley. The falls is wide with a breath of 177 meters and is shoe shaped at the crest. The place is thronged by visitors in rainy season when reddish brown water sweeps over the cliff with a dull roar that can be heard from quite a distance. Goki trees are found in great numbers in this area and that is how the place came to be called as Gokak. It is 60 KMS from Belgaum and is a taluka place of Belgaum district. Gokak also has a railway station that is about 10 KMS away from main town.

Sathodi fallsSathodi falls is formed by several unnamed water streams and is 15 meters or about 50 ft tall. It is situated in Kallarmarane ghat near Sirsi, 32 KMS from Yellapur. November to march is the best time to visit the falls, rather than in the rainy season.Sathodi falls is about 150 KMS from Belgaum. Magod falls is about 17 KMS from Yellapur on the opposite side. It is a good day’s picnic, visiting both the falls from Yellapur.

Magod falls

Magod falls is a steep, 2 step fall down 650 feet or 200 meters. It is fall of Bedti River and provides a spectacular view. Magod falls is 70 KMS from Hubli and 140 KMS from Belgaum. August to December is the best time to visit Magod falls. The falls runs dry during summer months. Nearest town is Yellapur, where food and accommodation is available a plenty. Yena, Unchelli, Banavasi, Dandeli are other places of tourist attraction around Magod Falls. Sathodi falls is about 25 KMS from Yellapur on the opposite side. Even Ikkeri, Gokarna, Murudeshwar are not very far away.

Located about 15 kms from the town of Gokak, its a superb waterfalls across river Markendeya- Last 1 kilometer involves walking down not a very tough terrain and very well managable though slow and careful walk- The final plunge taken by the river is awesome but getting into the waters is a threatening task- the beauty can be enjoyed from afar. The fact that it is less crowded adds to the beauty .Bus services not available to this falls- its better to drive down or take a cab.

Vajrapoha fallsAbout an hour and half drive from Belgaum, near the village of Jamboti on Belgaum-Goa stretch is the beautiful Vajrapoha or Vajrapoya falls. The falls is at its best during monsoon months – June to October and boasts of a height exceeding 200 ft. The place is about 40 km from Belgaum. The view is spectacular as the water gushes down a great height. The beauty about this place is that, the falls can be viewed from top, as well as from the front. Both the views are breathtakingly beautiful.

Doodhsagar waterfall

An amazing water fall, so called because of the milky white color with which water falls down the hill, after violent confrontation with large rocks. It is one of the most exquisite water falls in the world.Doodhsagar is a 1000 ft, multi tiered cascading water fall on the river Mondavi. It lies on the border of Karnataka and Goa and is part of the state of Goa. The location is within Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, situated at Collem, south Goa in the Western Ghats.

Naveelateertha dam

Navilateerth is a small place near Saundatti in Belgaum. The dam on the River Malaprabha and Renuka Saagar reservoir are the places to see. About 85 KMS from Belgaum and Hubli, Navilateerth is a picnic spot and is very picturesque as it is located in a low valley between 2 hills.

AsogaAsoga is a small village in Khanapur Taluka of Belgaum district. The village is home to about 1000 people living in about 200 houses. The village is spread across 570 hectors of land. Marathi is the most common language but almost all residents speak fluent Kannada also. Ideally, it makes a good half a day picnic from Belgaum. With a personal vehicle, one can reach Asoga from Belgaum in a matter of 45 minutes. Relax on the river bank in the serene lush green surroundings and return home. On the riverbank is an old Shiva temple, which was built by Kadamba kings in the medieval period. It is a sacred place for all the people of the surrounding villages. Hindi film song ‘Nadiya Kinare …’ from the famous bollywood movie ABHIMAAN, starring Amitabh and Jaya was shot on the river bank and the temple background in 1973.

Sogal

Sogal is a temple town with small water fall, surrounded by lush green hills. The water fall is just about 20 feet, and is active round the year. Sugola muni, a sage is believed to have lived in this area and that is how the place is known as Sogal. The town is full of ancient temples and statues of mythological figures. Someshwara temple is the most popular one. Sogal is about 61 KMS from Belgaum and easily accessible by road. It is about 90 minutes drive from city centre.

AmboliAmboli is the nearest Hill station from Belgaum, just 70 KMS away. From the other side, it is 90 KMS from Goa and about 130 KMS from Kolhapur. Situated in the mighty Sahyadri Hills of Western Ghats at an altitude of 700 meters, it is last hill station before the coastal belt of Konkan-Goa region. The place came into being as a staging post for British, between Belgaum City and Vengurla port that was used to provide supplies to their garrison.Hills of Amboli are believed to be one of the sources for Krishna River. There is a Hiranyakeshi temple of Lord Shiva in the cave, from where water emerges. The place receives incredible high rainfall, about 7 meters, and the surrounding hill gives rise to numerous small milky water falls in the rainy season.

Saundatti Yellamma Devi or Renuka Devi is a family deity of millions of Hindus. The temple is on a mountain and is 5 KMS from the town of Saundatti (or Savadatti). It is about 90 KMS from Belgaum and 45 KMS from Dharwad. The mountain is called Yellamman Gudi (Yellamma’s mountain). The temple also houses the shrines of Lord Ganesha, Lord Mallikarjun, Parashuram, Ekanath and Siddeeshwar.The temple is built in Chalukyan style architecture while the carvings reflect Jain architecture. The temple was constructed by Bomappa Naik of Raybag in the year 1514.

Pattadkal and AiholePattadakal also spelled Pattadakalu is a World Heritage site, a village and an important tourist centre in the state of Karnataka and is located on the left bank of the Malaprabha River in Bagalkot district and is 22 km from Badami and 180 km from Belgaum . The Pre-Chalukya historical and Archaeological site Bachinagudda is also near Pattadakal. Pattadakal, place for Chalukyas Coronation,was the capital of the Chalukya dynasty of Karnataka in Southern India. The Chalukyas built many temples here between the 7th and 9th century . Aihole is located 10 kms from Pattadkal and can be covered in the same day .

HampiHampi (Kannada: ಹಂ�ಪೆ Hampe) is a village in northern Karnataka, India. The name hampi can also mean "champion".It is located within the ruins of the city of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Predating the city of Vijayanagara, it continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple, as well as several other monuments belonging to the old city. The ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi. 'Hampi traditionally known as Pampa-kshetra, Kishkinda-kshetra or Bhaskara-kshetra is derived from Pampa, which is the old name of the Tungabhadra River on whose southern banks the city is built. It is A 5 HOUR DRIVE FROM Belgaum .
