Soft Skills Training Session Feedback Analysis

The Placement Office organised a four hours soft skills training session for the final year PG

and UG students who had registered for placements. The objective of this session was to help

students get an insight into various processes that happen during a campus recruitment drive

and to equip them with the necessary skill sets to successfully clear each stage of the process.

The sessions were planned on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 4.30 to 6.30pm. The

first batch was held on 3rd July (Tuesday) and 5th July (Thursday).

Soft Skills Training program was conducted for UG and PG courses (A total of 12 batches)

Objective: Training plays a major role in shaping up career goals of students as it enhances

their employability skills and helps in transition from academics to industry.

• Topics covered were Resume Writing, Video Resume, Personal Interview Skills, Mock GD

sessions, Basics of Digital Literacy, Grooming, dressing & basic behavioural etiquettes &

Communication Skills.

• The training sessions were conducted by Mr.AbhishekAiyappan& Ms. Megha, Soft Skills

trainers from Para.

The training was conducting again in the Even Semester for those students who were yet to be

placed.

CAT SCHOLARSHIP TEST BY T.I.M.E

Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd. (T.I.M.E.) is India's leading test-prep

institute with a pan-India presence. T.I.M.E visited the Christ (Deemed to be University)

campus on 19th August 2019. Mr. Vivek and Mr. Darpan from the institute came to the college

to conduct the talent search examination which was for a duration of 1 hour. Around 92 students

from the Department attended the examination. The examination was very similar to the CAT

exam and tested each individual’s skills across various sections. At the end of the examination,

each student was given a Rs. 5000 discount coupon which can be availed at T.I.M.E Institute,

Koramangala.

Deloitte Pre-Placement Talk and Corporate Training

on Tuesday, 16 July 2019 at KE Auditorium

Deloitte cordially held an informative Pre – Placement Talk that benefited the students

enormously on the 16th of July at the KE Auditorium, from 10am to 12pm. The keynote

speakers for the event were Deloitte’s Human Resource Head – Mr. Anish and the Audit Vice

President – Mr. Ravi. A total of 150 students attended the Talk, which not only included the

B.Com students but also some very interested M.Com students.

The talk started off with tips to help train and teach students how to prepare for placements,

specifically in the following three areas:

1. Resume Writing Skills: included questions to ask yourself, format along with being

prepared enough to answer any queries on the resume details;

2. Group Discussion: Basic etiquettesto practice during the discussion as well as how to

make a good impression;

3. Personal Interview: Everything, from dress code and questions asked to giving thanks

to the interviewer, was discussed.

The talk then moved onto more generalized training regarding choosing a placement with their

“career” in mind rather than “job”, i.e. career over job. And lastly, Deloitte’s requirements in

a student were discussed, mainly desired qualities such as an eye for detail. They not only gave

the sections covered under their test but also the break-up for the test, which was:

Financial Ability – 20q x 25minutes

Quantitative Ability – 14q x 20minutes

Logical Reasoning – 14q x 14minutes

Verbal – 18q x 16minutes

PLACEMENT TALK

About the speaker:

Born and brought up in Doha-Qatar, Parvathi is currently a CA finalist. After completing 12th

grade, she decided to pursue B.Com (Hons.) with a specialization in Audit and Tax in

CHRIST(Deemed to be University). She belongs to the batch of 2011-14. During her time in

Christ, she was a part of the University Debate Society and Literary Team of the Cul Team

(2012-14).She was an avid fester who took part in variousBusiness Fests on the behalf of the

Commerce Department. Parvathi and her batchmate Mohd. Sinan founded "Suyukti" - The

Oratory Club of the Deanery of Commerce under the guidance of Rishikesh Sir. Post college,

she continued to pursue Chartered Accountancy and completed her articleship with KPMG-

Qatar for 3 years. In her time with KPMG, she felt the need to further her passion for social

policy and governance practices. So, she founded the CSR Steering Committee of which she

was also the head. In the future, she aspires to forge a profile in the field of Developmental

Finance and Economic Policy.

On 13th June 2019, a placement talk was conducted for third years B.Com and B.Com Honors

students of CHRIST(Deemed to be University). It was attended by around 80 students from

both the courses. The talk was helmed by CHRIST(Deemed to be University) alumnus Parvathi

Anantha. The talk began with an introduction about the speaker. She talked to the students

about her work profile, her life as a student in CHRIST(Deemed to be University) and her

future aspirations. Ms.Parvathi highlighted the importance of work experience as a prerequisite

for pursuing an MBA and shed light on various options open to students after completion of

their UG courses. This was then followed by a Q&A session where students cleared their

doubts regarding placements, job offers, the interview process, etc. Ms.Parvathi put forth her

answers in a very articulate manner and ensured that the students’ had a clearer picture. She

also conducted a mock group discussion on the topic ‘Should freedom of press be regulated?’.

10 students participated in this interactive GD session and it proved to be an insightful

experience. The talk ended with a vote of thanks where students thanked Ms.Parvathi for her

time,effort and insight.

Career Launcher Orientation

The Career Launcher Orientation was held in the KE auditorium on Wednesday, 12th

February 2020 attended by around 150 students of Department of Commerce. The key note

speaker was Mr. Srinivas Akkapeddi. Sir is currently one of the directors of Career Launcher

Bangalore Branch, he is an alumnus of IIM Indore. The speaker talked about the importance

of MBA and the top B schools in India to pursue the course from. He gave an insight on how

to crack the entrance exams of these B schools, the current trends. He gave comparison on how

much investment is required and what return does one get after this investment. He also

emphasized on the fact that this has great future and great career progression. Sir gave useful

tips on how to crack these competitive exams and the pattern of these exams.
