Having set the benchmark in Tourism sector, we have begun thejourney to define excellence in field of ever expanding Service sector. IITTM, with its vastresource pool and enormous experience will set trends and create new paths which willset the pattern to be followed in future.
PGDM - ServicesServices sector is driving the growth of India economy by contributing 56.5% per cent toits GDP in 2012. Being a people centric sector, quality of manpower plays critical role here.Specialized management courses in services were started a little late in the country. IITTMstarted its PGDM-Services programme in 2007 to fill the gap in manpower requirementsin many areas where its core programmes of travel and tourism were found to be too niche. The institute had the long experience of preparing people for tourism, hospitality andrelated areas and builds the same servitude among its services management students.
Students at IITTM have the advantage of expanding their knowledge and learn relevantskills in a campus where all learning is services focused. Hands- on experience gained bythe students in arranging various in house events train them in small but actual modules.Students also get opportunity to work with faculty members on their research andconsultancy projects. It is expected that with their strong theoretical background, studentsshall be able to transfer these skills on job. The open and participatory approach to teachingmakes students think critically than to rote learn. This learning has held our past batchesgood in their work places and we hope that same shall continue.
The course focuses on general management of service organizations along with industryspecific knowledge in the areas of tourism, hospitality, finance, Marketing and HumanResources. IITTM faculty has worked meticulously to prepare students for their entry inthe corporate world.
‘We invite you to join us for Summer placements for the 2012-14 batch.’
