Alumni of any academic institute possess immense strength to shape and reshape the capacity of the parent organization as
and when it is needed. They are the best channel, to help in understanding the exact professional requirements of the
market, industry, and employers. Therefore, they become a bridging force between the Institute and the potential job market
for its future alumni. They can extend their unconditional support to the Institute in those difficult areas where often
financial and administrative limitations become barriers in meeting its vision and mission. With the genesis of such a noble
idea, faculties and the Alumni of the Institute formed and a registered professional body of IIPS trained population
graduates in the name of the IIPS Alumni Association (IIPSAA) under the Society Registration Act 21, 1860 (Regd.
No.2893/2011/GBBSD) as well as under the Charity Commission Act 1950 (Regd.No. F49222 (Mumbai).

The academic programs at IIPS necessitates students to familiarize themselves with software packages and data analysis
packages like STATA, SPSS, R, SAS, MORTPAK, MlWiN, MATLAB, Arc GIS, ERDAS etc. Students analyze different large
scale datasets like NFHS, DLHS, IHDS, SAGE, LASI, NSSO etc with these software packages. This enhances students’
conceptual and analytical reasoning power.
Thesis, Term paper, Assignments and Fieldwork
Thesis, term paper and assignments are an integral part of the evaluation process different programs offered in IIPS. They are an
important and necessary value additions to the students' understanding of the subjects. Assignments and presentations has 20%
weight in overall evaluation of performance during the course.
Application of Theory
Application of an appropriate analytical framework , along with empirical evidence, is a sure test of the students' understanding
of concepts at hand. Empirical analysis is carried out using highly advanced econometric packages which create a bridge
between theory and application.
Fieldwork
Students generally form groups for data collection as fieldwork in different areas of Maharashtra under different topics of
population and health. This approach incorporates a spirit of teamwork, learning and knowledge sharing. It allows for discussion
and expose to different perspectives and situations which provides a more realistic picture of the problem. Data is analyzed with
different software and results are presented to a panel of experts. Field visiting and primary data collection is compulsory for
different courses taught in the institution.
Presentation
Presentations are integral part of different programs of the institution. Students are assigned for presentations on different topics
as part of every paper being taught during the course. At the final stage of thesis and term paper, students are required to present
their final analysis to a panel of experts and peers. In the process they are exposed to multiplicity of questions related to chosen
topic. This ensures a better comprehension of the concepts and also trains them to present their ideas in a concrete and logical
manner.
