115 * Abstract: This article deals with the social status of women in Islam. The status is clear in the Holy Quran, the Hadith and the life of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). In Islam, caliphate has been bestowed on the Ummah as a body and not on any particular individual, group, tribe, race or class. Hence being the viceroy of Allah, every Muslim be man are women is responsible before Allah. The Quran has laid down comprehensive principles to run the system of the Islamic society. Therefore, one can state that the women have prominent place in Islam while all other Religions and civilizations lack behind. 1 *
