TRAILER AND CANOE INFORMATION BUMP IN / BUMP OUT FOR CANOES

PLEASE NOTE:

Participants must realize that Manly is one of Sydney’s largest tourist destinations in Sydney. The manly traffic area is an extremely congested and busy place. For us as an outrigger community to operate on an ongoing basis out of Manly Wharf a high level of Patience and co-operation is essential to have a smooth removal of our sporting equipment.

TRAILER PARKING SITE:

THERE IS NO MAP TO THE TRAILER PARKING AREA. THERE WILL BE NO ACCESS TO THE TRAILER PARKING AREA unless you have a driver or a co-driver from the event organizing committee. This area is strictly controlled. If you are found driving you trailer up in this area you will be asked to leave the event. This is a not negotiable point. The area where the trailers are being parked is under renovation and access is strict.

UNLOADING CANOES

THIS MUST BE DONE FRIDAY – The only exception to this is if you are paddling your canoes in from somewhere else in Sydney on Saturday morning, this may be done via water without accessing any of Manly Council boat ramps or public spaces.

THE SITE: will have traffic and pedestrian controllers with a drop off space for trailers with cars, ideally we would like you to drop your trailer off and disconnect your car , the trailer will be unloaded and canoes stored on the grass until your club can rig the canoes. Your trailer will be taken to the trailer storage area and stored for the weekend or alternatively your car and trailer can be driven by one of the HSASHC staff and stored for the weekend.

NOTE THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE TRAILER PARKING AREA.TRAILERS MUST BE UNLOADED AND STORED BY 8PM as the trailer storage area does get locked at 8PM by the land owners.

LOADING OUT AFTER THE RACES

The event organizers will provide clearly visible marshals to coordinate the orderly loading and removal of canoes from the event area in Manly.

TRAILER LOADING

BEFORE YOUR TRAILER / CLUB CAN GO ON THE LOAD OUT SCHEDULE YOU MUST :

1. HAVE ENOUGH CLUB MEMBERS IN THE LOADING AREA TO LIFT YOUR CANOES ONTO YOUR TRAILER.

2. ALL CANOES MUST BE TOGETHER , UNRIGGED AND IN THE SAME AREA READY TO LOAD.

3. IF YOU ARE NOT PRESENT WHEN YOUR NAME IS CALLED FOR YOUR LOADING SPOT YOU WILL GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST.

4. BE PATIENT WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS 5. EXPECT DELAYS YOU ARE IN MANLY 6. LOADING SLOTS WILL BE AVAILABLE AS WELL AT THE

COMPLETTION OF SUNDAYS EVENTS \

** Once canoes are loaded onto your club trailers you MUST EITHER connect your club towing vehicle and tow the canoes away from the race venue to your club site by your club member or

** Your trailer can be towed back up to the trailer storage site can it can be stored for Saturday night and Sunday. The only people with permission to drive to the trailer storage area are event staff. If you want your trailer stored for Saturday night you will not be able to get the canoes out until after all racing has finished Sunday. This area will be locked for safety reasons.

RACE INFORMATIONMandatory for all RacesAll OC6 canoes must have available storm covers, 6 life jackets, 2 bailers, 25m tow rope and a spare paddle.

OC6 Long Course – Blue Line on MapCompetitor’s will start in the water off Middle Harbour Yacht Club following the western shore of Sydney foreshores passing Sunrise beach, Bradley’s Head , Taronga Zoo, Sydney Opera House and then Under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to a marker buoy off Blues Point and back to Middle Harbour Yacht Club along the western foreshore.. . The categories of the event will include open men’s and women’s ,open mixed, master mixed master men’s, master women’s,

TEAMS WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR HAWAIIAN AIRLINES PRIZES IN OPEN MENS, OPEN WOMEN,

All Club crews competing will be eligible for National Series points as this race forms part of the OC6 National point score series.

Amenities

Male/female toilets are provided at Western end and Eastern end of the main Harbour front.. There is also toilets under the wharf, in the car park. Safety

Members of AOCRA will be performing safety inspections on all canoes. If a canoe fails to meet the required AOCRA Safety guidelines, the canoe will be ineligible to take part in the event.

Rough Seas

In the event of rough seas, all courses will be running in the opposite direction to Roseville Bridge and return

The parking ticket machines take $1 and $2 coins so please bring change. A Credit Card payment option is available on some machines..

Boat Trailer Parking Unloading / Loading/ Rigging. Trailers can only be driven by event staff to the storage area.

There will be designated areas for trailer parking, unloading, loading and rigging open from 5:30 am and car park attendance will give you directions. Trailer drivers please arrive as early as possible to avoid congestion. Please call 0415769218 30 minutes out

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

1. competitor who is a financial member of a club affiliated with AOCRA Inc. and is a current registered competitor with AOCRA Inc. is eligible to nominate and compete in any event

2. International paddlers can race

3. the Race Directors, Mike Mills-Thom, Sam Williams or Mark Forbes AOCRA President, Rod Wyse, NSW AOCRA President, reserves the right to request proof of identity or age (i.e. identification card with photograph) of a competitor at any time.

4. For Mixed Crew events, a minimum of 3 women paddlers must be in the crew to constitute a mixed team.

5. Young Guns division must have 3 people under 18 in the canoe to be eligible.

6. The Race Director Mike Mills-Thom reserves the right to be the arbiter in any dispute regarding eligibility and registration of competitors.

7. The Regatta Rules on AOCRA website www.aocra.com.au of the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association Incorporated shall apply to all New South Wales regatta races.

8. All crews must start the race with 6 paddlers and finish with 6 paddlers.

9. Composite teams can enter. These teams will be eligible for all prizes.

AGE DIVISIONS

Age Divisions for All Competitors

The following age divisions shall apply to this OC6 event, based on calendar year of competition:

Adult AgeDivisions

Women’s Age Men’s Age

Young Guns Must have three people under 18 for all divisions

ii. Open Adult age i.e. 20 yrs and above

iii. Masters 40 yrs and above 40 yrs and above

iv. Senior Masters 50 yrs and above 50 yrs and above

v. Golden Masters 60 yrs and above 60 yrs and above

vi. Platinum Masters 70 yrs and above 70 yrs and above

Note: there must be three (3) teams to make a division

RACE FEES

Seniors:OC6 = $540 per team/canoe (equivalent to $90.00 per paddler and sponsors race shirts are provided)

OC6 CANOE RENTAL $200 PER RACE

Race fees must be paid ON LINE by Direct Debit or Credit Card.

INTERNATIONAL PADDLERS must sign a waiver form and have their own travel insurance.

Any Team that enters the Sydney Harbour Challenge is eligible to win the prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the sponsor and race director.
