• Pitesti, residence of Arges department, is situated in the South-center part of Romania, between Meridional Carpathians Mountains and Danube, in the north-west side of Muntenia region. The distance from Pitesti to Bucharest, the capital of the country is about 120 km. Pitesti is situated at the confluence of Arges River with Doamnei River, in the cross point of 44°51'30" North latitude parallel to 24°52’00” East longitude meridian, at approximately equal distance from the North Pole and Equator, mentioning that 45° parallel passes 20 km far from Pitesti. The altitude is 250 – 350 m.

• Pitesti stretches for a surface of approx 4,073 hectares (measured in 2007).

• The city, located between high hills, on the Arges River terraces, has a valley climate, calm and moderate. The annual average temperature varies between 8.6° and 11.5°C, the average for January is of -1.4°C, for July of 20.2°C and the one for September is of 15.0°C.

• It was attested by a document going back to 1388.• Presently, it is an industrial (Renault factory and OMV Petrochemicals),

universitary city, having over 200,000 inhabitants.• There is a chain of high-quality hotels down town (40 - 80 euro/night).• Research Institute for Fruit Growing is located 5 km far from the town

center.
