Introduction

Page 3: Pitch Presentation: The Pongle Rev 1

There are 5 types of ping-pong players. Which type best describes you?

I consider myself to be a ‘social’ ping-pong player in the casual players group.

Who Plays Table Tennis?

is that there are limited opportunities

The Problem

for casual players to participate in table tennis.

If you happen to have an opportunity to play, its only fun when you play someone

of a similar talent level…

…and new, innovative participation models do notachieve significant scale.

The Problem (con’t)

My vision is to create unlimited opportunities to participate for all casual players.

Todays software technologies enable the convergence of Social, Mobile & Local. Wherethese 3 overlap is where opportunitiescan be created.

In 2006, the Wii Console broughtthe physical realm (P) into thevirtual (V). As a result, A Wii player can physically play table tennis in a virtual world.

But in 2013, the virtual (V) realm is being

brought into the physical realm (P) thanks

to advancements withhardware technologies.

By uniquely packaging existing software and hardware technologies, the first ever ‘player-centric’ participation model is possible.

With a player-centric model, unlimited opportunities for casual players to participate is possible.

How to Create Unlimited Opportunities

Page 10: Pitch Presentation: The Pongle Rev 1

Integrate a smartphonedirectly into the racket.

Hack a Wiicontroller ; useBluetooth to communicate toa smartphone

Create a small, universally attachableDevice w/ 2 buttons; use Bluetooth to Communicate to a smartphone, smart watch, Google Glass or other Bluetooth enabled devices.

What are the Options?

Page 11: Pitch Presentation: The Pongle Rev 1

Keeping score enables ranking & ranking measures skill level.

Being able to discover others players of equal skillis critical for creating unlimited opportunities to participate.

If we just made an app, trying toplay while entering scoring info into the phone

would be disruptive to the game.#friction

With a small, universally attachabledevice the game can take place without

interruption.#LittleToNoFriction

Interruption vs No Interruption

…because like a dongle, the Pongle adds functionality to the object it attaches to…in this case the racket.

My State will provide a $50,000 prototyping grant if $103,000 can be raised.

In order to get this product offthe ground, I need money:

Product Name: The Pongle

The Pongle will also help:

Social Table Tennis Clubs… …enhance patron experience

National Governing Bodies… …increase participation pool, enhance retention& close the gap between casual and formal players.
