Target audience

AGE 15-24

Our target audience is for young teenagers. We feel that the age group used in the film can relate to the feelings and emotions presented in the film.

Step 1

Opening sequence starts with flashbacks from the main character’s experience of being kidnaped and the build up to it. Flashbacks to what they were doing at the time and how they tried to get away from the kidnapper.

Step 2

Main character wakes up in a random place, e.g woods, and the flashbacks stop. This is their first time returning to their hometown since their disappearance.

Step 3

Main character walks through town and other places they used to be familiar with. At the end of the opening sequence they become aware that a year has passed since they’ve been gone.

Ideas for title sequence

Step 1

Our title sequence will consist of bleak colours and dull settings to reflect on the boys reality of figuring out the past year of his life.

Flashbacks will be quick and short, and do not make sense in the character's head.

HOW WILL THIS APPEAL TO TARGET AUDIENCE? Although our idea is quite surreal, we feel our target audience can relate to theme of fitting into a social group and ‘find themselves’. Although our film is a thriller, the age group of our actors would fit our target audience of our actors. We also feel like our story line isn't too complex to follow like films such as inception. This means it will be easy to follow, especially for people with a short attention span.

EXAMPLES FROM OTHER FILMS

TAKEN

We have used an idea from the film Taken. Taken has a similar plot of someone going missing. Taken uses lots of action scenes to build up the tension and make it ‘thrilling’ this is the same sort of thing we want to use in our film.

The Mourning ‘20 years after going MIA in Desert Storm, Aaron returns home under mysterious conditions, not having aged since his disappearance, and must reestablish relationships with loved ones before an imminent return to an ambiguous other-worldly existence.’

We liked the idea of someone that has gone missing and after their return either they don't recognise anyone or no one recognises them.

Questions to ask the audience

1.

In a opening sequence would you prefer a montage or a continuity type sequence?

2.

Do you think that our opening sequence would give too much information about the film away?

3.

What can we do to improve our idea?
