In the opening sequence which we will film, a guy will wake up captured and tied to a tree with rope. The actual movie will be finding out how he got to

that point.

THE MOVIE

Page 3: Pitch - AS Media Coursework

• The title sequence will be within the opening scene and will be fairly simple rather than a whole

2 minute sequence in itself.• We looked at other title sequences for inspiration

such as Se7en, insidious and The Incredible Hulk.• In the end, we decided to do a more simple title

sequence than a long one as it was not necessary.

THE TITLE SEQUENCE

Page 4: Pitch - AS Media Coursework

The genre is of course horror but within horror there are many sub-genres.

Before deciding, the main narratives that our group were interested in was the psychological

horrors. This was because we really like how the movies

focuses on characters’ emotions, fears and general instability to really build and create

tension throughout the narrative.

GENRE AND SUB-GENRE

Page 5: Pitch - AS Media Coursework

There will only be the two main characters in our opening

sequence. This is the guy being isolated and the spirit girl.We will be challenging the

stereotypes of this teenager as normally in horror movies the actress is a vulnerable female lead whereas we will have an

asian guy.Jacob will be acting.

REPRESENTATION OF CHARACTERS

INSTITUTIONAL DETAIL

We decided to name ourselves the Paradox productions and this is our company logo. Our logo simply consists of a picture of a camera and the name so it is not irrelevant.

Page 7: Pitch - AS Media Coursework

• Our primary target audience is between 18-25 year olds. Our secondary audience is 25-35 year

olds.• We will attract our primary audience by having

our protagonist be a teenager.• We think the main thing that our audience will

expect and require to stay interested is a sense of mystery.

AUDIENCE DETAIL

The location we will be using is in a wooded area. The teenager will be tied to a tree.

The setting is good because it represents the isolation

We chose this locations as it is very easy to use due to it having easy access.

Also, woods are a convention of horror.

MISE EN SCENE – LOCATION AND SETTING

The spirit (Izabelle) will be wearing a white dress with a pale face. The teenager will wear jeans and a top. He will have makeup so that he looks beaten

up.The main crops being used are a chair in a bad

state and ropes.

We are yet to decide on the non-diegetic sounds as this will be done during editing. There will not be many diegetic sounds to

represent the isolation other than the dialogue.

SOUND DESIGN

We chose this font and wrote it in capitals because it is quite bold and the colour red is a

connotation of horror.Also

TITLE CREDITS

• This is about the first half of the opening sequence we will produce to give you an idea of how it will be.

• The movie will start off with a long shot of the teenager tied to a tree• Then there will be an extreme long shot of the woods to show isolation.• Next will be a panning shot starting off with the teenage and then will

move over to the production logo.• After this it will pan into the title sequence. This will be back next to

the teenagers face.• Now it will show a point of view shot of the teenager of the woods

blurry.• Then there will be a mid shot of the teenager and it will be blurry.• After this, a close up of his hand tied with rope will be shown.

• Then there will be a close up of him worrying.
