An Executive Summary

PIPELINE 2021/22

The National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline 2021/22 has been published by the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) to build market confidence in the construction industry to invest in innovation and develop capability, recognising that well planned and delivered projects have never been more important to the UK in driving the economy’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Detailing project information at a more granular level than ever before, the short to medium-term pipeline workbook contains up to £31 billion of procurements across economic and social infrastructure, which will be brought to market in the 2021/22 financial year.

The following are not included in the pipeline:

• Projects where contracts have already been awarded or funding drawn down• Projects in the early stages of development.

To support longer term investment, the pipeline also includes planned and projected spend of up to £650 billion over the next 10 years to 2030/31, although specific investment figures are only available for the current Spending Review period up to 2024/25.

The IPA has also published Transforming Infrastructure Performance: Roadmap to 2030 which sets out how the Government intends to support the effective delivery of the projects in the pipeline.
