DIRECTIONS This wood is located north-east of Bruton and south-west of Frome in North Somerset, within a few minutes’ drive of the A359 and A361. Travelling from the south and the A303, proceed to Bruton and take the A359 northwards. On the outskirts of the town, take the North Brewham road on the right by a left-hand bend in the main road and follow this for 2 miles, avoiding the turn under the railway bridge. Pink Wood is on the left with road frontage and an entrance barrier at the north-east end (shown as point A on the Sale Plan). The property is shown on the location and sale plan to the rear of these particulars and can be found on OS Sheet 1:50,000 Number 183, Grid Reference ST709371. Nearest postcode – BA10 0QN. VIEWING Viewing is possible at any time during daylight hours so long as potential purchasers are in possession of a set of these sale particulars. DESCRIPTION The woodland is growing on fertile mineral soils, with rainfall averaging 30 inches annual and moderate elevation of 300 feet above sea level, giving excellent growing conditions. The site is designated as an Ancient Woodland Site, indicating continuous woodland cover since at least 1600 AD. In line with current forestry policy, the present owner has embarked on a programme of woodland restoration by the gradual removal of conifers and replanting with mainly broadleaved species such as oak, ash, cherry, alder and small leaved lime. The woodland structure is now quite diverse, attracting birds, butterflies and wild flowers in profusion. Some hazel coppicing has been carried out to renovate the stools and improve biodiversity. A few stands of Norway spruce remain, which could be removed to generate a small amount of income.

The excellent main approach road links with a comprehensive track system, which, apart from being a delight to walk, provides above-average internal access. Bridges have been constructed to cross the small watercourses in the wood. The present owner’s policy is to allow permissive access to the public to enjoy the peacefulness of the wood.
