PIG GAME MATERIALS Dices Scoring pad or sheets Player 1Player 2 Roll DIRECTIONS Usually played by 2 students with one pair of dice. Object is to be the first player to score 100 points by adding the totals on the dice after each roll. Players take turns rolling the dice (a player may roll as many times as desired as long as the player does not roll a 1 on one or both of the dice) If a 1 is rolled on one die, the player gives up the turn and loses all points earned during the turn. If a 1 is rolled on both dice, the player gives up the turn, loses all points, and starts again at 0. MODIFICATIONS Wooden blocks with numerals on all sides but one on which a drawing of a pig is placed. When the pig dice are used, each player can be given an appropriate worksheet for his or her math level. If the pig is rolled, the player answers an item on the worksheet and the answers is checked by a student with the answer key. If the answer is correct, the item number is checked but if answer is incorrect, the item number is not checked and the player must attempt that item on another turn. If 1 pig is rolled on the dice, the player loses a turn. If 2 pigs are rolled, the player is allowed to attempt to answer two items on the worksheet. Continues until one player correctly answers all the items on the worksheet and wins the game. MODIFICATIONS To minimize erratic dice throwing, the dice can be placed in a pill container. The student shakes the container and then opens the lid to see the numbers that are upright on the dice.
