PROJECT DOCUMENTATION

INTRODUCTION:

The final project is primarily a reconstruction of Renoir’s painting of a bather using textile. It’s more of an experiment to play with light and to see if textiles alone can create a painting retaining its essence. I used scrap cloth materials discarded by the tailors and cut them into small pieces and placed them on a white cloth (base) to get the effect of his small and irregular brush strokes. It’s A3 size. During the exhibition it was a work in progress and after working approximately for five hours a week after the course was over for the following four weeks, I finally managed to complete it. I used glue to stick the fabrics together and even layered them to get the depth.
