What do I need to know before I go?
You should have a basic knowledge of Pennsylvania’sfishing regulations. The best resource for this is thePennsylvania Summary of Fishing Regulations and Laws,or Summary Book as it is known. As its name implies, thesummary book contains an overview of fishingregulations. It also provides many fishing tips and othervaluable information.
If you need to know more about how to fish, try ourFishing Fundamentals page, which provides informationabout fish, how to fish and where to go fishing..
And don’t forget, a Pennsylvania fishing license is required to fish in PA. Wehave a separate FAQ specific to fishing licenses. More information about costs andtypes of licenses, trout/salmon stamps, and fishing regulations and laws isavailable.
Fish-For-Free Days
Fish-for-Free Days allow anyone (resident or non-resident) to legally fish withNO FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED to fish on all Pennsylvania’s waterwayson the designated days. All other fishing regulations still apply. Two dates aretypically chosen on Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Fish-for-Free Days are great ways for familiesto “catch” the fun of fishing!
