Lo spazio museale GranUM, ospitato in una sala dellostorico Palazzo Pretorio, è un punto informativo mul-timediale e multisensoriale dedicato al Granito Rosae alla sua importanza storica ed economica per il ter-ritorio di Baveno, pensato anche per rappresentare laricchezza di percorsi e luoghi della lavorazione dellapietra nel territorio del Verbano Cusio Ossola. Lo spazio espositivo è diviso in quattro aree temati-che, a partire dalla presentazione del granito rosa e

delle più note varietà lapidee del territorio. Segueuna sezione dedicata alle straordinarie rarità mine-ralogiche, una dedicata al mestiere e alle tecnichedi lavorazione del granito ieri e oggi, infine viene trac-ciata la storia dello sfruttamento e dell’impiego delgranito in zona e all’estero.

Aménagé dans une salle de l’ancien Palais prétorial, lemusée Granum est un point d’information multimédia etmulti sensoriel dédié au Granit Rose, et à son importancehistorique et économique pour le territoire de Baveno.La muséographie permet en outre de découvrir larichesse des parcours et lieux d’exploitation de cetteroche sur le territoire du Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.Les espaces d’exposition se déploient sur quatre zonesthématiques, en commençant par la présentation dugranit rose et des variétés lapidaires parmi les plusconnues de la région. La section suivante est dédiéeaux curiosités minéralogiques. Le musée se transformeensuite en lieu de mémoire pour présenter, dans la sec-tion métier, les techniques de travail du granit au coursdes siècles jusqu’à nos jours. Le parcours se termineenfin par l’histoire de l’exploitation et de l’utilisation dugranit au niveau local et à l’étranger.

The “Granum” Museum, located in the old Municipal Hall,is a multi-medial and multi-sensorial experience dedicatedto the local Pink Granite and its historical and economicimportance for Baveno. The museum also documents thevariety of sites where granite is quarried and workedthroughout the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola Province.The exhibition area is divided into 4 thematic sections,starting with a presentation of the pink granite and themost notable types of stone in the area. This is followedby a section dedicated to the extraordinary mineralogicalrarities discovered in the Baveno quarry with a display ofsome of the finest crystals found over the years. Exhibitsin the third section illustrate work in the quarry and theprocessing of granite, both today and in the past. Thefinal section documents the history of quarrying here andhow the granite has been used locally and abroad.

Im historischen Gemeindehaus wird heute die Räumlich-keitvom Museum Granum beherbergt, hierbei handelt essich um einen multimedialen und multisensorischen In-formationspunkt der dem Rosa Granit von Baveno sowieseiner geschichtlichen und wirtschaftlichen Bedeutunggewidmet ist. Man möchte hiermit die reichen Routenver-läufe und die Orte der Steinbearbeitung im Gebiet vomVerbano Cusio Ossola darstellen.Der Ausstellungsbereich ist in vier thematischen Sektio-nen unterteilt, es beginnt mit der Darstellung vom RosaGranit und den bekanntesten Charakteristiken der Stein-arten des Gebietes. Es folgt die Sektion um die außerge-wöhnlichen mineralogischen Seltenheiten zu zeigen. DasMuseum wird Ort des Gedenkens mit der Darstellung inder Sektion Handwerk, wo man die Bearbeitungstechni-ken von gestern und heute kennenlernt. In der Letztenwird die Geschichte des Abbaus und Anwendung des

Granits in der Gegend sowie im Ausland dargestellt.

GranUM, che intende rappresentare la memoriastorica dell’attività estrattiva di tutto il comprensoriodel “Granito del Laghi”, lavora in rete con l’Ecomu-seo del Granito di Montorfano ed estende l’attivitàdi valorizzazione su tutto il territorio di Baveno, in-serito nel Sesia-Valgrande UNESCO Geopark.La più significativa estensione del Museo

all’aperto è rappresentata dal sentiero dei Pica-

sass, percorso escursionistico che conduceall’area estrattiva del Monte Camoscio. Essoprende nome dal termine dialettale con cui eranoindicati i cavatori e porta a un’installazione pae-saggistica con blocchi di pietra in diversi stadi dilavorazione e pannelli fotografici con scene di la-voro. La prosecuzione del percorso conduce daun lato alla via ferrata dei Picasass, realizzata dalCAI  Baveno, dall’altro permette di raggiungere lacima del Monte Camoscio e collegarsi con l’itine-rario per la vetta del Mottarone.

The GranUM Museum, founded with the aim of kee-ping alive the historical memory of the quarrying acti-vities throughout the “Granito del Laghi” district, worksin collaboration with the Montorfano Granite Ecomu-seo network, and has expanded its promotional acti-vities to include the entire area surrounding Baveno,now part of the Sesia-Valgrande UNESCO Geopark.The most important extension of the open-air Mu-

seum is the path of the Picasass, so named be-cause it was once used by quarry workers - calledpicasass in local dialect - to reach the Monte Camo-scio excavation site. It now leads to a landscape in-stallation displaying a series of stone blocks invarious stages of manufacture, along with photogra-phic panels showing work in the quarry. The footpaththen forks, continuing in one direction up to the “Pi-casass” via ferrata, created by the C.A.I. (Italian Al-pine Club) of Baveno, and in the other to the top ofMonte Camoscio, where it links up with the markedroute leading to the summit of Mottarone.

GranUM, qui a l’intention de représenter la mémoirehistorique de l’activité minière de toute la région du“Granit des Lacs”, travaille en réseau avec l’Éco-musée du granit de Montorfano et étend l’activité devalorisation sur tout le territoire de Baveno, comprisdans l’UNESCO Géoparc de Sesia-Valgrande.L’extension la plus importante du musée en plein

air est représentée par le chemin des Picasàss, unitinéraire de randonnée qui mène à la zone minièredu Mont Camoscio. Il est nommé d’après le termedialectal utilisé pour décrire les carrières et conduità une installation paysagère avec des blocs depierre à différents stades de traitement et des pan-neaux photographiques avec des scènes de travail.La poursuite de la route mène d’un côté au via fer-rata des Picasàss, réalisé par le CAI Baveno, et del’autre vous permet d’atteindre le sommet du MontCamoscio, en se raccordant à l’itinéraire vers lesommet du Mottarone.

GranUM, das die historische Erinnerung an dieBergbautätigkeit des gesamten Gebiets vom “Gra-nit der Seen” darstellen möchtet, arbeitet in einemNetzwerk mit dem Montorfano Granit Ökomuseumzusammen, und es erweitert die Valorisierungmaß-nahmen im gesamten Gebiet von Baveno, das zumUNESCO Geopark von Sesia-Valgrande gehört.Die bedeutendste Erweiterung des Freiluftmuse-

ums ist der Pfad der Picassass, ein Wanderweg,der zum Bergbaugebiet des Monte Camoscioführt. Er is benannt nach dem Dialektnamen derSteinbrucharbeiter und führt zu einer Landschafts-installation mit Steinblöcken in verschiedenen Ver-arbeitungsstufen und fotografischen Paneelen, dieArbeitsszenen zeigen. Die Fortsetzung des Wegsführt einerseits zum Klettersteig der Picasass, dervom CAI Baveno realisiert wurde, und andererseitszum Gipfel des Monte Camoscio und zum Wan-derweg, der zum Gipfel des Mottarone führt.
