An essential element of the modernization was the replacement of a gas burner at the simultaneous reconstruction of the installation of: gas, combustion and cooling air, exhaust fumes. The computer system allows, apart from the standard features of the heat treatment process control, an automatic selection of heating curves and correction of their parameters during the heat treatment process, furnace operation at the set value of an excess air ratio. Furnace working parameters entered into the program at the beginning of the process may be updated by the operator at any time of its realization. The program allows heating operations in the system impulse control (steel quality) and the continuous one (for ordinary steel). Temperature waveforms (as well as several other process parameters) are archived in order to reproduce trends in the parameters in previously performed treatments. The effect of the modernization (apart from such obvious facts as: the automation of process control or improvement of operating furnace conditions) is : - reduction of the heat consumption rate - increase in hourly productivity of the furnace up to 40%, providing the possibility of automatic adjustment of the furnace in the range from 200 to 1260 by keeping the accuracy of the temperature control within -+15K. - the possibility of keeping he process in reducing atmosphere
